Marie Conley Fankell, 88, of Grayson, died Thursday morning, Dec. 4, 2008, in the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson. She was born May 20, 1920, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Mullins Conley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church, the Eastern Star, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel’s. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Fankell; one daughter, Clarice Johnson; one brother, Clifford Conley; and one sister, Ethel Shavers. She is survived by three sons, Clarence “Sonny” Fankell of Grayson, Larry D. Fankell of Grayson, and Kenny Fankell of Olive Hill; two daughters, Teresa Wright of Grayson and Betty Brown of Greenup; two sisters, Janice Watson of Ashland and Jessie Barnhill of Grayson; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church by Brother Mike Blankenship. Burial will follow in the Cribbs Hill Cemetery.
