COMPTON Jeff Walls Compton, age 81, of Hamilton, OH, formally of Columbus, OH, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on December 25, 2008. Born February 22, 1927 in Shelbyville, TN. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII as an electrical technician. He worked for North American Aviation from 1953 to 1971 and Coulter Electronics from 1971 to 1992 when he retired. He married Loretta Marie Barber on June 18, 1949 in Detroit, MI who survives him. Jeff and Loretta were avid square dancers all over the country for 30 years, from 1969 to 1999. Left to cherish his memory include his wife; 2 daughters, Jeanetta Lynn (Rusty) Alward of Franklin, OH, and Deanna Marie (Steve) Snyder of Columbus; 2 sons, Robert Jay (Angela) Compton of Brookneal, VA, and William Thomas (Maureen) Compton of Worthington, OH; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and many cherished friends, including his 16 cats. Preceded in death by his parents Talbert William and Francis Nancy (Bay)! , 7 brothers Rufus Charles, Huston John, Bryan McCoy, George Gentry, Oscar Nolan, Avery and Cecil Lentz, 1 sister Alti Mai Blackwell, 1 granddaughter Angela Marie Gibson, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Pastor John Witt for his love, support and assistance, and Hospice of Cincinnati, whose support and wonderful care were greatly appreciated. Showing will be at SMITH OGLE FUNERAL HOME, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, OH, Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be at First Christian Church, 5877 Todd Rd., Oxford, OH, Tuesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. Pastor John Witt officiating.
