WHEELER, Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Sr. 74, of Catawba, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center High Street Campus following several months of declining health. He was born September 19, 1934 son of the late Rev. Ray & Emma (Chandler) Wheeler. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Janet M. (Miller), sons Kenny Jr. (Laura) of Catawba, Jeff (Ellen) of Catawba, Jerry (Becky) of Springfield. Daughters, Connie Brickman-DeWine (Dan) of Springfield, Sharon Hambrick (Brad) of Catawba. Grandchildren Keegan Brickman, Mandie & Danielle DeWine, Phillip Wheeler, Pfc. Matthew Wheeler, Stacy Wheeler, Levi Hambrick & Denver Rich. Siblings Donald (Shirley) of Mutual, Robert of Catawba, Ronald (Geri) of South Vienna, Geneva Hickman of Springfield, Ann Vanhoose of Cable. Proceeded in death by his father-in-law Phillip Miller, brother-in-laws Homer Hickman & Hansel Vanhoose, sister Melba Jo Wheeler. Kenny was a 1952 graduate of Catawba High School. He retired fro! m Navistar in 1996 after 31 years of service. He was member of the Catawba Pleasant Township Fire Department where he served as Assistant Fire Chief, firefighter and ran as an EMT on the squad before stepping down due to health conditions. He had great pride in the department. He was an avid sports fan & dedicated to The Ohio State Buckeyes & The Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed reading westerns & other novels & the family would like to thank Bill & Jan from the Clark County Bookmobile for keeping him supplied. The family would like to thank the 4th floor ICU & 3S staff at High Street Campus for their wonderful care & support. Special thanks goes to Dr. Boor, Dr. S. Varghese, Dr. G. Varghese, Dr. Kurian & Midwest Dialysis for the compassionate care provided. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 4:00 & 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg where Last Call Service will be conducted by the Cata! wba Pleasant Township Fire Department at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services wi ll be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2008 in the funeral home with Pastor Gene Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon-Asbury Cemetery, Catawba. The family will be accepting friends at the home of their daughter and son-in-law Sharon & Brad.
