ANDERSON, Shelby Jean Of Leesburg, FL and formerly of Park Layne, Oh earned a much deserved rest November 12, 2008 after a long and courageous fight for her life. She was born August 17th, 1939 in Canvas, WV the daughter of William Earl and Pauline Gibson. She leaves to cherish her memory her best friend and husband of 51 years Thomas George Anderson. Together they created four children who will miss her very much; Melinda (Ron) Ford of Douglasville, Ga, Thomas G.(Denise) Anderson, Jr. of Germantown, Oh, Lisa (Kenneth) Senquiz of Canton, Ga and Tracy (Mark) Thompson of New Carlisle, Oh. Those four children gave her twelve grandchildren who loved their Mamaw Andy. She is also survived by two sisters her parents gave her Patricia (Fred) Bodine, and Marjorie (Robert) Miller and three sisters (in law) and two brothers that God gave her Georgianna (Norman) McNary, Betty Christine (Jack) Harris, Martha Jane (Russ) Russell, James (Phyllis) Anderson, and Edward (Gayle) Anderson. She! was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter in law Darlene (Brown) Anderson, sister in law Ruby Cribb and brother in law John Anderson. Shelby spent the vast majority of her life as a caregiver; first to her sisters and her parents and later to her husband and children. Because she was raised with deaf mute parents, she was an accomplished sign language interpreter. She later parlayed that into a job working with the handicapped in all aspects of their lives from integrating them into the workforce to teaching them how to drive. Once her children were older, she worked for Jobs and Family Services in Dayton, Oh and Mueller Residential Center in Springfield, Oh. Shelby touched the lives of many including numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her presence on this earth will be sorely missed by all that knew her, but her spirit will be carried for eternity by those that loved her. Published in the Springfield News-Sun on 11/14/2008
