    2. John, Here is the ad for Armstrong tires with the discs. Val In a message dated 11/18/2008 8:45:24 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Here goes. Its all about tires. In the 50's winter tires were important in my corner of Ky and we were more concerned with the yellow mud than snow. We didn't know much about snow tires but we sure knew about "mudgrips". During this time there were advertisements in magazines about a tire that had disc in its tread. I guess this was to keep the tread open and was supposed to improve traction in rain and brakng. One of the ads was a mans fist with these discs between the fingers. What company made these tires? I'm taking a beating in an ongoing argument and sure need some help.
