    2. CASTLE, Adele Grimes Of Dayton passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008. She was born in Washington DC on October, 17, 1919 to Captain Charles Greene Grimes and Lucy (Burleson) Grimes. Adele attended Oakwood High School (class of 1937) and the University of Texas (class of 1941) and received her Masters of Education from the University of Dayton. In 1943 she married Lt. Alfred E. Castle of Barrington, Illinois during his service at Wright Field. The marriage later ended in divorce. Club and organization affiliations include: DAR, Four Seasons Garden Club, Pi Beta Phi and the Oakwood Historical Society. Adele was preceded in death by her son, Captain Edward Burleson Castle; her former husband, Alfred E. Castle; brother, Burleson Grimes Sr.; and her brother-in-law, William T. Butt, Sr. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard G. and Deborah Castle of Salado, Texas and Charles B. and Susan Castle of Dayton; two granddaughters, Jennifer Castle of Dayton and Sarah! Anne Castle of Columbus; sister, Eleanor Grimes Butt of Dayton; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Hall Grimes of Troy, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews survive, also. Adele will be remembered for her enjoyment of entertaining family and friends, her keen interest in history and family genealogy, her knowledge of flowers and trees along with a fondness for animals, including her four-legged companion, Dottie. The family wishes to thank her special friends and devoted caregivers: Carol Hobbs, Colleen Hensley, Leah Hobbs, and Glenna Brewer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Oakwood Historical Society, 1947 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45419 or The Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 Nicholas Road, Dayton, Ohio 45418.
