Elray J. Thacker, 75, of South Shore, a former resident of Pike County, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born in Pike County on Oct. 30, 1932, a son of the late Ballard and Olva Belcher Thacker. He was a self-employed businessman. He was also preceded in death by a son, John Warner, and two brothers, Willie L. Thacker and Kenneth Thacker. Survivors include three sons, Barry Thacker of LaFayette, Ga., Robert Warner of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Kirby Thacker of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Patricia Gail Klimzaki of Elwood, Ill.; a brother, Kermit Thacker of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Ernestine Williamson of Ashland and Christine Justice of Mount Sterling; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Thacker Funeral Home in Pikeville by the Rev. Glenn Newsome. Burial will be in Anna Young Cemetery in Pikeville.
