The 1930 census of Breathitt Co. lists him as the stepson of Charles Fugate, age 74, whose wife was Hallie, age 31. Jesse was born about 1921 according to this census. Charles and Hallie are listed as both being married first at age 21 so Hallie would have been married sometime in 1920, presumably to the father of Jesse Mcquinn, but she isn't listed as a McQuinn in 1920. The only McQuinn's in Breathitt Co at that time was the family of George and Rhoda McQuinn (children: Jennie, Herbert, and Emma, all born 1906-1910). Jesse is listed in the birth records for Breathitt Co. as Jesse McQuin being born the 5 Oct 1919, mothers name Hale Nih, vol 88, C#43748. The 1920 Breathitt Co census lists a Katie Nix, 60, widowed, with daughter Halie, age 38, married, daughter Julie, 25 Single, Vicie, 19 single, Zackie, son, 15, single, Nauchell, daughter 9, single, and Jessie, grandson, 2. The same family is listed in 1910, with Katherine as head, Haley, daughter, 22, single, and other children Angeline, Patsey, Vianna, July Ann, Vash, Zachie, and granddaugther Nancy. They are living among the Fugate families. Katherine is listed as a manager of a farm, married 1 time, at age 29, gave birth to 11 children, with 9 surviving in 1910. In 1900 on Lewis Fork in Breathitt, you find the household of Charles (born July 1856 and Katie (born March 1864) Nix with children Solomon born Jan 1883, Lilie, born July 1886, Haley, born Jan 1888, Angeline, born March 1890, America born Apr 1892, Patsey, born 1895, and Vianna, born Apr 1898. Once again living among the Fugate families. 1880 Troublesome, Breathitt Co., Ky Charles Nix born 1858 is listed as the son of Fanny. also in the household are Fanny's other children Sally, Burnetta, Tabetha, adn granddaughter Vianna. They are living among the Miller, Russell and Ritchie families, who are also associated heavily with the Fugates. 1860 Breathitt Co., Ky Leonard Nix, age 50, Ky, Fanny Nix, 41, b. Perry Co., Ky, Sarah 14, Levi 12, Emoline 10, John 8, Charles, age 6, William 4, Bunetta 2. 1850 Charles D. Fugate, 63; Leonard Nix, 42; Fanny, 28; Patsy, 14; Nancy, 12, Nancy J. 9; Sarah, 6; Levi, 3, Emily 1, William Fugate, 25. In my notes on the Fugate family, I have Leonard Nix married to Fanny Fugate about 1847 in Breathitt Co., Ky. She is the daughter of Charles Devers Fugate born 1787 in Russell Co., Va. Charles is the son of Benjamin Fugate and Hannah Devers. Hope this helps on that side, no information on the McQuinn line other than what I stuck in this email. If I find anything else I'll post it. Apossible McQuinn family to check out is the line of Charles Brooks McQuinn born 1847 and Esther Howard (children Isabell, Kitty, George born 1875, Kathryn, Ed, Addie, and Hattie). George and Esther were married 13 Mar 1870.
