Born September 28, 1924 in Allais, KY to Taylor and Rhoda (nee: Maddox) Stidham, he was retired from General Electric as a process control engineer after 35 years. A US Navy veteran, he was a member of the Blanchester American Legion. He volunteered for extended care services through the Sugar Run Baptist Church, which he attended. He was also a little league baseball coach for several years back in the 90s. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richmond and Raymond Stidham, two sisters, Juanita Peters and Nancy Combs and two granddaughters, Kelly Price and Becca Abbott, survivors include his wife of 60 years, Maurene (nee: Jones) Stidham, whom he was devoted to and cared for through her illness, one son, William L. GRIMM, Mark D. 41, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 in Good Shepherd Village. He was born January 21, 1967 in Xenia, Ohio the son of Gale Charles and Wilma Irene (Wilson) Grimm. Mark lived at the Mueller Center since 1972 (30 Years) and then moved out in the community with two other roommates in 2002 where he lived for 5 years until he moved to Good Shepherd Village in the fall of 2007. Mark was a very inquisitive, enduring, loving, affectionate, social, stubborn individual. He had a sense of humor and was very well liked by all who came in contact with him. Mark went to Town and Country School and he attended TAC Industries. Mark was very play full and enjoyed laughing, teasing and chasing staff around. He enjoyed spending time with his special friend John. Mark also enjoyed the holidays and his most favorite of all time is Halloween!! Mark also loved uniforms and or military clothing. Over the years, Mark participated in mixers and participated in the sp! ecial recreational activities including Special Olympics motor activities program. He liked watching movies and television (loved Sponge Bob and the Incredible Hulk). He is survived by two sisters; Deborah L. Henley and Michele L. Puckett and his very dear friend John. Born and raised in Floyd County, KY, and a resident of Lexington for the past 58 years, she was the daughter of the late Childres Daniel and Myrtle Hall. Ms. Hall attended Berea College and was a member of Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church. Ms. Hall was an accomplished artist specializing in oil portraits, still lifes and landscapes. She was a member of the Artists' Attic in Victorian Square. She was a longtime women's rights activist and member of the local chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). As a civil rights advocate, she marched in Frankfort, KY with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Democratic Women's Club. Survivors include three daughters, Dana Elaine (John Lynch) Tackett, Gena Dee Tackett, both of Lexington, KY and Joni Tackett (Thomas B.) She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Wheeler; son, Roger Dale Wheeler; daughter and son in-law, Beverly and James Dille; brothers, Earl Young, Larry Young; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. COX, Joseph Edward 84 of Dayton, (formerly of Huber Heights, Eaton, and Park Layne), was born in Junction City, Ky., and died at Good Samaritan Hospital on October 5, 2008. Raised in rural Kentucky during the depression, farming was his life. Joe went off to WWII, and as an Army veteran returned to proudly earn bachelors and masters degrees in Psychiatric Social work, from Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky. Joe worked as a social worker his entire life, at various times with the welfare system, the mentally disabled, and criminally insane. Joe was a gentle soul who loved art, poetry, reading, and writing. He was a published author with articles in several magazines, but he loved to write an earnest "Letter to the Editor" as well. Joe enjoyed talk of politics and was as avid gardener. He liked goofy jokes and puns, and could immediately spot Waldo in any drawing. Joe was a social worker by nature as well as by profession. He took in not only stray animals! , but displaced people. Joe was preceded by his dear wife, Jeananne Skinner. He is survived by his son Steve and grandsons Matt, Mike, and Josh, his daughter Lynn, son-in-law Dane Wetz, and granddaughters Lyssa and Ally Wetz, his son Jim and grandsons Brandon and Justin, his niece, Jean Marie Purvis, and numerous beloved siblings and relatives in Kentucky. The family wishes to express gratitude to Tina and the staff at Spring Hills Singing Woods, and Gem City Home Health care, for providing safe, comfortable, and loving care the last months of his life. He can be remembered with donations to the North Shore Animal League, the Humane Society, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Disabled American Veterans. PHILLIPS Jenny L. Phillips, 69, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Jenny was born to the late Arthur and Nellie (Smallwood) Stewart on August 16, 1939, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, and was also preceded in death by a brother Felix Stewart. Survivors include her daughters, Becky Phillips, Cathy (James) Ream; sons, Michael and Anthony Phillips; brothers, Terry and Jeffrey Stewart; grandchildren, Justin and Cameron Phillips; former husband, Robert Phillips; niece, nephews, cousins and many friends. Jenny worked for the ODNR for over 20 years as an Accounting Supervisor. A devoted mother and grandmother, Jenny will be greatly missed by her family and close friends. MARCUM (VOLZ) Roberta Ann "Robby" (Volz) Marcum, age 54, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord at her home on Monday, October 6, 2008, with her beloved family by her side. Born June 13, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Jerauld E. and Margaret R. (Rasor) Volz. Robby worked for Wal-Mart in Canal Winchester and was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Pataskala. Survived by loving husband of 18 years, Landon "Hayse" Marcum; sisters, Sandra Wise, Hilliard and Jerrilyn Volz-Costell, Hilliard; brother, James E.
