JOB Girth must have ran in the family. Simeon's niece, Allie Justice, daughter of John Justice and Amy Neal, was a very large woman. She married John H. D. Holliday and was known in later years as "Fat Granny". She could only travel in a sled pulled by a team of oxen. She utilized this mode of transportation to get around and perform her role of midwife. She died at the home of a relative while on a midwife mission. She was buried on site, but later disinterred to a family plot. There is a legend about this deed. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 5:42 PM Subject: Re: [EASTERNKENTUCKY] North Carolina to Eastern Kentucky inthelate1700's and... > Elder Simon Justice last married Adelphia Carter. Hi Cathy No, I have not done any research on the Gibson's in Pittsylvania, Co. but, when some of we Justice's had our Y DNA examined by Family Tree, we found that there are a bunch of Gibson's with almost identical DNA even out to the 37th marker. Which indicates that at some point in time, we had a common ancestor. Not knowing exactly where my British ancestors might have come from, I did some on line searching of 15th and 16th century records and found Justice's and Gibson's, living cheek to jowl in Northumberland County in northern England along Hadrian's wall. (The Roman boundary between England and Scotland). Roman Legions inhabited this area as a garrison for over nine hundred years. My Y DNA is exact out to the 37th marker along with other east KY/Pittsylvania County, VA Justice descendants. Other Justice's in the data base are not an exact match, most not even close. My ancestors John Justice and Mary Moore were married in Scituate, MA on 2 August 1727. I have been unable to trace them any farther back. But, this gives be some confidence that my John Justice who died in 1766 in Halifax County, VA (his area of Halifax County, became Pittsylvania County in 1767) had roots in the Northumberland, England area, and that my blood lines lie on both sides of the England/Scotland border. The first Justice Family Coat of Arms was established in Edinburg, Scotland in 1122.
