TYREE, Sarah "Jane" Dooley Kettlehake Left this world at 6:00 AM Friday, November 14, 2008, in her residence to meet her Lord and join the family and friends that have gone on before. Daughter of Harrison and Bertha (Edwards) Dooley, she was born February 27, 1927 on their 19th wedding anniversary in Charley, Kentucky. Jane is survived by her husband Harry I. Tyree to whom she was married for 21 years, five daughters; Linda (Bill) Jones, Janie Wise, Joanie (Tom) Cullinan, Mary (Darryl) Benson and Bert (Bob) Druckenbroad, three sons: Lewis (Shirley) Kettlehake, Kenny (Marie) Kettlehake and Howard (Mitzi) Tyree, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren, two brothers: Hansford (Vi) and Allie Jay (Mary) Dooley, three sisters in law: May Dooley, Jane Dooley and Ernestine Tyree, special nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Lewis R.! Kettlehake, two sons: Ray and Jon Kettlehake, three grandchildren and one great grandchild, three sisters; Bertha M. Gibson, Sadie Hayes and Nellie Young, six brothers; Arnold, Hebert, Glennie, Asa Dewey and Albert Dooley. Jane never met a stranger and those who knew her well will not soon forget her distinctive voice and contagious laugh. She jokingly said she wanted to be remembered by her beautiful smile and pretty fingernails. Life wasnt always kind to Jane but she always believed a positive attitude and laughter were the best medicine and her long happy life seems to prove she was right. She will be missed but to the family she loved more than life she will always be alive in their hearts and never more than a loving thought away. Hopefully her friends will think of her and smile. She appreciated the love and thoughtfulness of her friends at Eternal Life Ministry and her friends at Elderly United CARE made every other Thursday special. THOMAS, Ted F. age 72 of Middletown, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at the VITAS Innovative Hospice, Dayton. He was born September 6, 1936 in Harlan County, Kentucky the son of Milt Thomas and Susan (Clem) Thomas. Ted worked at AK Steel, Basic Oxygen Furnace for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School for 19 years. Ted was a Past Master and member F. & A. M. Camden Lodge #159, High Point Lodge #773, Monroe, and Jefferson Lodge #90, Middletown. He was a 32 Degree Mason in the A. A. S. R. Valley of Dayton. Also, he was past President of Middletown Shrine Club, past High Priest of Middletown Chapter #87, past Illustrious Master of Middletown Council #136, past Eminent Commander of Middletown Commandary #71, Knight York Cross of Honor, and the representative for A. A. S. R. Valley of Dayton for Butler County. Ted was a past President of the PTA, Amanda Elementary, and former Athletic Booster Club Pre! sident for Amanda Jr. High and Monroe High School. He was a former knothole coach and commissioner. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen (Roark) Thomas; two sons, Ted Thomas, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Robert (Bob) Thomas of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Jason Robert "J-Bob" Thomas of Big Spring, Texas, Taylor S Thomas of Duncanville, Texas; one brother, William M. Alice Ann Psimer, 61, of 1551 Jones Nursery Road, wife of Ivan Eugene Psimer, died at 6:30 pm Wednesday at the Central Baptist Hospital. A native of Clark County, she was the daughter of the late George Robert and Leaner Townsend Drake. Mrs. Psimer was a former Rose's Department Store employee and a homemaker. Additional survivors include a son, Anthony Psimer of Clark County; a grandson, Ivan Psimer II; a sister, Vounita Abner of Clark County and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Psimer was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Wyatt. Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday at Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. James McIntosh. William B. “Bill” Rice, 95, of Flatwoods, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell. Mr. Rice was born Nov. 17, 1912, and raised in Greenup County, a son of the late H. Lawrence and Effie Burns Rice. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Lee Harrell and Dorothy Neely, and a nephew, Henry Neely Jr. He retired as a general foreman from Armco Steel in 1977. He was a member of Greenup Christian Church and transferred to Russell Christian Church in 1940, which is now Bridges Christian Church. He was an elder and served on the church board of Russell Christian Church for 43 years and was a teacher of Sunday school classes for 65 years and was a member of the adult choir. He was a member of Smith Lodge 775, F&AM, for many years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Gertrude Arthur Rice. They were wed on June 2, 1940. Also surviving are two nephews, Jerry R. Harrell of Wilmington, Del., and Roger Arthur of Russell; two great-nephews, Douglas and David Harrell of Wilmington, Del.; and a great-niece, Lisa Arthur of Columbus. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by pastors Mark McKinney and Monty Cooper. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. ANDERSON, Shelby Jean Of Leesburg, FL and formerly of Park Layne, Oh earned a much deserved rest November 12, 2008 after a long and courageous fight for her life. She was born August 17th, 1939 in Canvas, WV the daughter of William Earl and Pauline Gibson. She leaves to cherish her memory her best friend and husband of 51 years Thomas George Anderson. Together they created four children who will miss her very much; Melinda (Ron) Ford of Douglasville, Ga, Thomas G.(Denise) Anderson, Jr. of Germantown, Oh, Lisa (Kenneth) Senquiz of Canton, Ga and Tracy (Mark) Thompson of New Carlisle, Oh. Those four children gave her twelve grandchildren who loved their Mamaw Andy. She is also survived by two sisters her parents gave her Patricia (Fred) Bodine, and Marjorie (Robert) Miller and three sisters (in law) and two brothers that God gave her Georgianna (Norman) McNary, Betty Christine (Jack) Harris, Martha Jane (Russ) Russell, James (Phyllis) Anderson, and Edward (Gayle) Anderson. She! was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter in law Darlene (Brown) Anderson, sister in law Ruby Cribb and brother in law John Anderson. Shelby spent the vast majority of her life as a caregiver; first to her sisters and her parents and later to her husband and children. Because she was raised with deaf mute parents, she was an accomplished sign language interpreter. She later parlayed that into a job working with the handicapped in all aspects of their lives from integrating them into the workforce to teaching them how to drive. Once her children were older, she worked for Jobs and Family Services in Dayton, Oh and Mueller Residential Center in Springfield, Oh. Shelby touched the lives of many including numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. PRICE Thomas L. Price, age 89, Monday, November 10, 2008. Born June 15, 1919 to Charles L. and Mary Frances (Day) Price. He was married for 62 years to Lillian who preceded him in death in 2004. After working many years as a CPA, they retired to Venice, Florida where they had wintered for many years. He loved playing cards, dominoes, going to the dog races and having meals with friends. His greatest joy was seeing the world. He and Lil traveled from Australia to Alaska. He especially loved going on cruises. The one to Alaska was his favorite. He also loved trains. His favorite phone was a locomotive that blew when someone called. He was a US Army World War II Veteran. 50 year member Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine. Also a member of Paul Harris Fellow of Whitehall/Bexley Rotary Club, East Columbus Lions Club, American Legion, DAV, VFW. Tom loved life and the people he met, rich or poor, he enjoyed them all. He made friends wherever he we! nt. If you knew Tom, you'll always remember him. He is survived by his daughter, Marsha; nieces, Julie Secrest and Kathleen Schilling of Columbus; cousin, Betty J. PREECE Larry Criss Preece, age 68, of Lakeview, formerly a longtime resident of Marysville, died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at his home following a three month battle with cancer. He retired as a foreman with Powell Truss & Door, now Powell Structural Systems, following 31 years of employment. He was a member of the Lakeview Moose Lodge #1533 and the Lakeview Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3615. Larry loved NASCAR and all types of racing and especially enjoyed fishing and time spent with his wife and family. He was born October 16, 1940, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Paul C. and Martha R. Johnson Preece and grew up in Kermit, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Preece, a sister Linda Preece, and a sister-in-law Norma Preece. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gloria J. Patton Preece; his son, Larry C. (Lisa) Preece, Jr., Marysville; his daughter, Rhonda (Michael) Justice, Milford Center; five grandchildren, Christopher Preece, Nic! holas Preece, Adam Allar, Zane Justice, and J. Nicole Justice; three brothers, Michael (Debbie) Preece, Urbana; Eddie (Linda) Preece, Marysville; and Paul Preece, Jr., Malta; a sister-in-law, Elvina "Pat" Preece, Columbus; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be held Monday, November 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at MANNASMITH FUNERAL HOME, 621 West Fifth St., Marysville. Homer Preece will officiate and burial will take place at Obetz Cemetery. McCARTY Ruth Ann McCarty, age 68, of Columbus, former resident of Deer Lake Park in Winter Haven, Florida went home to be with Jesus November 12, 2008. Life-long Baptist. Attended Williams Road Freewill Baptist Church. Longtime employee with Columbus Public Schools. Preceded in death by parents Richard and Martha Belcher, sisters Delse Goff and Margie Thompson and brother Joseph Belcher.
