    2. Ray Walden Perry, 78, formerly of Russell, and more recently of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Webbville, the son of Ethel Thompson Perry of Ashland, and the late Lewis Jack Perry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict and was a 30-year employee of Armco Steel Shipping Department and attended New Life Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville. His passion was bluegrass music. Left behind is a loving family including his wife of 52 years, Annette Pack Perry; a daughter Angela Jones and her husband Jeff, of Jacksonville; two sons, Mark Perry and his wife Kathy, of Greenup and Tim Perry and his wife Ruth, of Ashland; two sisters, Gloria Jean Webb and Ruth Delores Neal, both of Ashland; three brothers, Bob Perry of London, Ohio, Randy Perry of Biloxi, Miss., and Bill Perry of Grayson; and seven precious grandchildren, Ian, Colden, Majal, Brysen, Mes´a, Baylen and Luke. Along with his father, preceding him in death is a brother, Woodrow "Woody" Perry.     2. POLLY, Vernon age 82 of Waynesville passed away Sat. Nov. 22, 2008 after a long illness. Vernon was born in Mayking, KY to George and Alta Polly, who preceded him in death. He was a proud WWII United States Army veteran. Mr. Polly, a science teacher, retired from Wayne Local School. He also served the school system as high school principal, baseball and golf coach, and as athletic director. Vernon had many hobbies. He loved fishing in Cherokee Lake in TN, making his own lures, taxidermy, and playing golf, among others. Her greatest joy was her family and she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, especially when preparing big family meals and eating with them. Nan met and married her husband of 47 years in Virginia, they relocated to Columbus, OH where she raised her family and grandchildren whom she was devoted to. Traveling was her lifelong passion. She avidly pursued her adventure of travel throughout the United States and abroad in Europe. She did not give second thought to hopping on a bus, train or plane in pursuit of her passion for travel. She frequently walked for her enjoyment of the outdoors, and retired from Mt. Carmel Medical Center after 25 years of service. Preceded in death by husband Andrew "POPS" Preston, daughter Linda Moore, parents Otis and Martha Reid and 8 siblings.     2. Heaven opened up and welcomed Mary Sloan Maynard of Catlettsburg as she stood before her Savior after her passing Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, from Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland. Mrs. Maynard, 87, was the daughter of the late Alex and Hazel O’Brien Sloan, born Sept. 28, 1921, in Ashland, Ky. Her husband of 41 years, Lawrence Maynard Sr., preceded her in death. She attended Boyd County Schools, was a very well respected housekeeper with several local families, and a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Mary was a loving and devoted Mother, always giving selflessly to her family. Sadly left behind is an adoring family including two daughters, Judy (Danny) Kruger and Pam (her companion Smokey Crisp) Maynard, all of Catlettsburg; a son, Lawrence “Skipper”(Ann) Maynard of Palm Bay, Fla.; two sisters, Suzanne (Howard) Sloan Shope of Catlettsburg and Clara (Ed) Sloan Robinette of Ashland; two brothers, John Sloan of Florida and Joe (Ann) Sloan of Catlettsburg; nine grandchildren, Mary Ann Vercrouse of Ashland, Tina (John) Hughes, Penny (Jerry) Stewart, Danny Kruger Jr., Sgt. Hazel was born May 26, 1928, in Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late Theodore and Amanda Jane Sutton Ruggles. She was a member of Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church. Hazel was a homemaker and former clerk at White Swan Cleaners. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by three brothers, Otis, Luther and Dick Ruggles; a stepson, Darrell Lewis; and a grandson, Brandon Lee Newsom. Charlene was the oldest of nine children born to Mary (Sergent) and Charlie Tolliver in Letcher County, Ky. on November 4, 1928. Charlene was a member of Oak Creek United Church of Christ, Kettering; the Kettering Mothers Singers, and Centerville Teachers Association. She attended Union College, Berea University, Miami University, Wright State University, and the University of Dayton. She was a life-long school teacher, serving over 60 years as an educator. Charlene retired from Dr. John Hole Elementary School after 30 years of service. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband Albert P. Routley; daughter Mary H. Heath; sisters Charlcie Martin and Geraldine Harding; brother-in-law Rogers Touchmann and sisters-in-law Pat Tolliver and Helen Kahn. Preceded in death by parents, Wyatt & Mae (Dixon) Adkins; sister, Irene Lewis; brothers, Everett, Burns, Earl; ex-wife, Jenny Caldwell; granddaughter, Amanda Daniel; son, Robert Keith Adkins. I'm taking a beating in an ongoing  argument and sure need  some  help.
