Hi all, My main lines are Thompson, Kee, Sanders, O'Bryan (Bryant, O'Briant, Briant), Keller and Church, Charles, Burton, Borders, and Stidham, among many others. Mainly Lawrence, old Floyd, and Johnson Counties in Kentucky. Three major brick walls: (1) Herrell (Herrel, Harrel, Harold) O'Bryan, b. 1790 (birthdate confirmed by War of 1812 Service records) in North Carolina, enlisted with Virginia militia, so birthplace possibly western North Carolina. He m. Margaret Pack in (old) Floyd County, Kentucky. Family history says his father was George, and grandmother was Annie O'Bryan. Can find no records of anyone before Herrell. Would love to track down parents, siblings. (2) Peter Kee (Key), father of Isaac Kee who was b. abt 1835 (don't have records w/me) m. Cleopatra (Cleo) Sanders in Lawrence County, Kentucky, dau Genoa Ann b. abt 1886 is my maternal gr-great-grandmother. Peter Kee likely born in Virginia/North Carolina, m. Rebecca (Jane?) Suttle. Looking for any information on Peter Kee's parent's, siblings. (3) William Burton m. Elizabeth Borders 1850 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He was likely b. Searching for the past of Samuel Vallance who arrived in Greenup, Kentucky in 1811. He was born b. 1781 in Long Island, New York. Samuel Valance fought in the War of 1812. Capt. Joseph C. Belts Company-US Infantry. Enlisted 1-1-1814, commanded by Thomas Deye Owings. Samuel Valance is thought to have lived in Philadelphia County, PA in Lower Dublin township , as early as 1810 and located near the Delaware River. Source provided by: David Spurlock of Batavia, Ohio. David believes he lived there several years before arriving in KY in 1814. Source 2: Greenup Kentucky Library Archives. He was a cooper by trade. Categories: Saml Valance b. 1781 in NY 1810 Census Records of SAM VALANCE living in Lower Dublin, PA shows he has 2 sons under the age of 10, himself at age 29, an older male 26-44 and wife 16-25. Living near Sam Wells at the time. Seems Samuel Valance fought in the War of 1812. Enlisted 1-1-1814. He was released 4-30-1814 and son Harvey is born in 1815. Saml Valance is living in Greenup, Kentucky in 1814 because Cindy Wedding, our cousin found the source where he was a jury member in 1814. (Age 34) Safe to say Saml Valance and Deliah Horsley married in 1814. Source of Deliah Horsley researched and found by Wanda J. Bledsaw. (A 30 year search). Have her line from Va to Greenup, Kentucky with many thanks to Beverly Turnmire, our Horsley Distant Cousin and Betty Vallance-Hunt. 1820 Census Records of SAML VALANCE living in Greenup, Kentucky shows he is now 39 years old. (Age is correct). Shows he has two sons under 10, being Harvey b. 1815 and Carter b. 1820. Shows Saml himself age 39 (b.1781) and 1 daughter under 10 (Mary D. b. 1818) 2 unknown female women between the ages of 16-26 (could have been nanny's) and Deliah age 26 (b.1794). Also shows he has 10 slaves on the property. In 1830 Census SAMUEL VALLANCE has no slaves. Census records and research provided by Wanda Axline-Bledsaw. Cales, Reis, Canterbury in Gallia, Lawrence, Scioto counties Ohio and Greenup, Carter, Boyd counties Ky. My huge brickwall is Rachel or Rachael Taylor who married Issac Cales and had a huge family in Gallia/Lawrence Counties Ohio. I have no clue where she came from or where she went after the 1880 Lawrence County census. Isaac was dead by then. Any help on this mystery will earn you my undying thanks. I don't know. I have Fielding Corum who came from Johnson Co., TN to Knox Co., Ky. Fielding never shows up on the Knox census, but his wife, daughters and two sons, James and Alexander do. James and Alexander were there by 1850 and the rest by 1860. Alexander then moved on to Lee Co., VA by 1870 and after that we cannot find him anymore, and don't know all of his children. My line is Fielding Corum and Caroline (Would love to know her maiden name); their daughter, Permelia (Milly) md.
