Having lived below Corpus Christie, TX, anything south of Houston (with all of the counties it occupies) was always referred to as the Coastal Bend Region, and when one drives far enough south into the Coastal Bend Region, one lives in the famous Salt Flats. Interesting, this business of dividing up the state ... by regions. I "think" I live in South Central, or is it South East, Texas ? What do you think south of Houston would be ? Or do I just live "Down here" in Texas ? Could be " Down where the beaches are ", or on the "Gulf Coast of Texas ". Hummmmmmm... My son just moved to Mineola, Tx., not long ago and he said he will never return to this area to live. He said there is all the difference in the world between "Here & There " Not only in the beauty of "East Texas ? " , but in the people. He said that everyone waves at everyone, or nods their head, or speaks as you pass them by where he lives now. "Down here", unless you actually know the person, your lucky to even see their eyes. I've lived here since 1952 and I will have to agree with him. I may live in the City of Enchantment, but I also live in the city of "snobs". This is known by many, many, people that visit our town. Sorry everyone that may be from here, but it is true. Don't get me wrong. There are some very friendly people here, but it is true that not many will talk to strangers or even acknowledge them.
