I was keeping out of this, but I will now put my two cents worth in also.. I was raised in Liberty County and taught that was SOUTH East Texas. About Livingstone, Polk Co. began East Texas all the way north to Longview. Really above there was considered NORTH East Texas. I was amazed to discover that people from Paris and Texarkana consider themselves living in East Texas. Oh well, TEXAS is a big state, and if we divide it into fourths, I guess then they are as East Texan as I am now, that I'm living in Nacogdoches Co. Boy, do we have Pine trees and chicken houses!
