Hello List Members, I've just subscribed to your list and would like to post my listings on the above families known to be in Rusk County/East Texas in the mid to late 1800's. PRICE FAMILY: Charles L. Price, thought to be born abt. 1821 in AL; his wife, Rebecca Tullis, thought to be born abt. 1839 in GA. CHILDREN OF CHARLES L. PRICE & REBECCA TULLIS: (1)Charles Columbus Price, thought to be born abt. 1854 in TX and married to Cynthia America Smith, born Tx. Their children were thought to be Smith Price, Sarah Ester Price, Addie Price, Cora Price, and Homer Price, all born in TX. (2)John Wesley Price, thought to be born abt. 1849 in TX and married to Leola/Lola Fortune, born in NC. Their children thought to be Lizzie and Charles, both born in TX. Both Charles Columbus and John Wesley's families are listed on the 1880 Rusk Co, Tx census. WEBB FAMILY: Also listed on the 1880 Rusk Co, Tx census are: W. A. (I think it might be William A.) Webb, thought to be born abt. 1854 in NC and married to T. V. (thought to be Teressia Virginia) Webb, born in TX. Only one child known; a daughter listed as L. E. Webb, born in TX. There is very likely another child named Minnie Webb, born abt. 1890 in TX. Also shown as living in the W. A. Webb home on this 1880 census are father-in-law, Anderson W. Smith and mother-in-law, Sarah H. Smith. SMITH FAMILY: James Edward? Smith, probably born in SC and married to Catherine Montgomery, probably of SC. They left Chester Co, SC abt. 1836 and migrated to Carroll Co., TN. About 1836, this family left Carroll County and moved by wagon train to the tiny Pine Hill Community of Rusk County, Henderson, Texas being the county seat. Children of James & Catherine Montgomery Smith: Albert Osier Lee Smith, born abt. 1829 in Chester Co, SC and married to Susannah Jones, born abt. 1826 in SC or TN William Smith, born abt. 1823 in SC and married (1) Julia Ann ??, & (2) Sarah A. ?? John C. Smith, born abt. 1826 in SC and married (1)Martha Barton & (2) CarolineD. Peter H. (Hugh?) Smith, born abt. 1824 in SC and never married Jefferson Smith, no known information Jackson Smith, married to Carolyn?? Children of Albert Osier Smith and Susannah Jones: John R. Smith; Albert O. Lee Smith, married Sarah Ester Price (shown above); J.A.J.(Jimmy) Smith, married Mattie Ann Wylie;; James Harvey Smith and Hershel Riley (Toby) Smith. 2ND SMITH FAMILY: I believe this Smith family to be unrelated to the above Smith family except later on by marriage: Anderson Whately Smith, born abt. 1814 in GA?, married Sarah H. Pendergrass in Clark Co., Ga in 1835. She was the d/o Hiram Pendergrass & Cynthia Freeman. CHILDREN OF ANDERSON W. SMITH & SARAH H. PENDERGRASS: Joseph Alonzo Smith, born abt. 184l in GA Stephen H. Smith, born abt. 1843 in GA Sarah E. Smith, born abt. 1849 in TX Cynthia America Smith, born abt. 1855 in TX (married Charles C. Price, see above) F. Y. Smith, born abt. 1857 in TX (this is probably a typo and should be T. V. Smith who married William A. Webb; see Webb family above).
