My gg-grandmother was Nancy Jane (Clark) Williams born 1838 AL, married Joel E. Cheatham in Angelina County, Texas, 12 October 1857. He died about 1875 In Angelina County and she then married Green Berry Loftin 18 December 1887. She died or left Angelina County about 1898 since she dropped from the tax rolls at that time. Her grave has not been identified but is believed to be in the Kelty's Cemetery, Lufkin, Texas. She and Joel had 9 children. Nancy Jane Clark's parents were killed along with her paternal grandfather when robbers raided their farm. She, 2 siblings and her paternal grandmother survived, being hidden out. Would like to know more of her family and this story prior to her coming to Angelina County, Texas. It is told by family members that she was 1/2 Cherokee or Creek and her father was red-headed.
