Try the Angelina Co Genweb page -- I can't think of the name of the one in Lufkin, but I think it is listed there. SFASU's East Texas Research Center also has information on lumbering and maybe if you could find information relating to the West Lumber Co, it would identify him as an employee. Where did the quote come from? I would also leave a query at Trinity Co Genweb, and see what else you can find on Trinity Co families.
