    2. This post is for those of you that are going to make your pies in the morning. This recipe works every time and will make five (5) pie crusts all in one bowl. It's wonderful, you'll love it! It's so easy, you won't ever have to be afraid of pie crust again. Lou Ann FOOL-PROOF PIE CRUST Lou Ann Lunsford from Aunt Clara This recipe makes 5 pie crusts at one time! 4 cups flour, lightly spooned into measuring cup 1 tablespoon sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 tablespoon white vinegar 1 ¾ cup Crisco (not liquid shortening) ½ cup water 1 large egg ************* In a large bowl, stir together with fork, the flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening with a fork until crumbly. (I use my hands) In a small bowl, beat together water, vinegar & egg with a fork Add to flour mixture and stir until all ingredients are moist. (I massage all together by hand, it works quicker and mixes better) Divide dough into 5 portions and shape into round flat patty, ready for rolling. Wrap in waxed paper, chill for 20 to 30 minutes (optional) Lightly flour patty to roll out………..that's it! ******************************************************************** About 1975 - This is when Aunt Clara gave me this recipe: Aunt Clara was the oldest sister of Troy Phillips, my dad. She taught home economics for years in Oklahoma schools. When we had a family reunion before Uncle Coy died, she was so proud of all her pies, and to please all the men there, she made 5 lemon pies topped with meringue, they were just beautiful of course and the brother's could hardly wait to taste them. Aunt Clara had forgotten to put the sugar in the pies and needless to say they were awful. Everyone was afraid to tell her. She cut herself a large piece of pie and sat down to enjoy it. Her first bit, she almost fainted….She said "why didn't you tell me?" Everyone laughed heartily. But that really got away with her, she said "I'll never get over this, no one will let me!"
