I'm looking for my husband's family. John T.or D. Nicholas married Josephine Lynch about 1887, Josephine was born in Texas. According to 1900 Rusk County Texas Census, John's birthplace was Tennessee and it list his parents birthplace as Tennessee. I have no idea what his parents name were. John Nicholas was born March 5, 1862. I found a John Nicholas in the 1880 Rusk Co., Texas Census. John is listed with Thomas Nicholas as 17 years old and the nephew of Thomas Nicholas. This John's age would be the age of my John. I believe my father-in-law said that his grandfather John Nicholas came to Texas at about the age of 11 or 12.
