Barbara L (Jones) Richardson wrote in part: "Hi Amy and E Worley, I have a Hugh Richardson b.1815, a William Richardson b. 1820, and a James Richardson (no birth date), as the story goes all born in Ireland. We have heard that one of them moved to Texas, My husband descends from William, who stayed in Pittsburgh area and from his son Thomas James who moved to Madison Co., Indiana. Do any of these names sound familiar?" Barbara, The names sure fit the family I'm looking for! My Thomas Richardson showed up in Trinity County, TX in 1853; prior to that I believe we've found him in Rankin County, MS in the 1850 census working as a drifting laborer; When my Thomas finally did marry in 1861 (age 45) he named his sons James, John B., William Thomas, Jacob Francis, Wood R. and George W. Not knowing my Thomas' parents or siblings, I'm only guessing (and praying) he named some of these sons after his father, brothers, uncles, etc. I have heard stories all my life that Thomas was from SC. In all these years, I've never found his trail there. I've also always been told he had dark skin, dark eyes and dark hair and he "talked funny" so the people in East Texas weren't sure what to think of him. Well, my theory is if he was from SC or somewhere in the south United States, he would have sounded like everyone else, or at least enough that no one would notice that he "talked funny".... just a theory of mine, but Ireland or Scotland or England has always been right there in my thinking. Or he came from up North somewhere. Please stay in touch. I would enjoy more comparisons on these guys! Amy McCroskie Denver, CO
