Hi List, Maybe someone can help me locate when and where Amos Tims/Thames died and is buried. The following letter in the NC archives (CR 029.928.9) to the Clerk of Court in Cumberland Co NC from J.R. Stark & Co, Marion, Angeline Co, Tx dated 3 Dec 1857 is quoted as follows: 'We make inquiry respecting Est. of David Tims Dec. David Tims died many years since in your county (supposed) or perhaps some (of) the adjoining counties. There is an heir to that estate which I am somewhat interested in this section of country and which is very 'kneedy'. We have learned from a traveling man that there is considerable funds coming to Amos Tims 'Haiir' to the Estate of David in the hands of the Admr or the Hon. County Court. We have "ritten" frequently for information on this matter but cannot get an answer..."(quoted from NC Gen Soc Journal P33 1985). This may mean that David's son Amos was in Texas by 1857. (160) No estate record for David Thames was found in Cumberland or Bladen County. Amos Thames/Tims had previously resided in Jefferson County Tx. No record of death or burial has been found for him. Maybe he died in Angelina Co Tx. Would someone check the cemeteries and other records for Amos Tims/Thames in the Angelina Co area? It would be greatly appreciated.
