Duncan C. CAMPBELL and Nancy ANDERSON came to Bastrop,Texas in 1851. They were from Tennessee and Mississippi. They had 11 children. Their sixth child William M. CAMPBELL, was my gg grandfather. He was in some type of altercation with carpetbaggers after the war. There is no record of what happened. He moved to Leon Co,Texas and changed his name to William (Sport) HOUSTON. That is how he is listed on all census records. His tombstone does have his correct name. He married Virginia PATRICK(Ninny) in 1869 in Centerville. He also opened a saloon and store called the Limerick that year. They had two sons, Samuel in 1870 and Duncan H.in 1872. Williams older brother George Washington CAMPBELL appears to have been residing in Leon Co.,as well. William's older sister Rebecca has a son named Aldopheus L.FOREHAND (Dolph). He was sent to live with William and Ninny. Dolph ended up marrying Ninny's younger sister,Mary Margaret PATRICK and they lived in Buffalo. William CAMPBELL(Sport Houston) died in 1880 in Centerville. His wife remarried in 1888 to John C.PARKER and they had a child in 1890 named Barney PARKER. William's son Samuel married Addie HOYT and they had 7 children in Jewett,Texas. Duncan married Eva Samantha HINSON in Centerville in 1896. They had five children, but moved to Anderson Co. They divorced about 1915. Duncan moved to Harris Co. and married May ? We know little of Barney, the half brother, except that he may have moved to Louisiana. There just has to be descendents out there with this big a family?? Karen Kerr
