On various census he gives a slightly varying age, and place of birth as AL, SC or NC. Supposedly he ran away from home at the age of 7, living and traveling with the Choctaw in AL, AK, and LA area for 10 years. Abt 1825 marries Charlotte. they have some kids on LA census 1840. Moved to TX had more kids. Thier children were 1)Mathinson, b. 1829 LA 2)Sarah, b. abt 1834, m. a Butler who was murdered soon after they were married 3)Amos b. 1835 LA m. Matilda "Puss" WAlker, dau of Louis Dial and Harriet Sweat Dial. 4)Emily, b. abt 1838 LA 5)Abner, d. 1862 Galveston, disease during Civil War 6)Elizabeth, b. abt 1842 7)Jasper, d. 1864 Tyler, Smith Co. TX of disease during Civil War 8)Samantha, 9)Mary 10)Andrew Jackson, b. 1844 Tyler Co d. 1923 Trinity Co m. Azalene Dail dau of Louis and Hariet Sweat Dial. AJ spent 30 years on prison for a murder he claimed to be innocent of, and wrote a book about it. "the Life and Times of A.J. Walker, an innocent Convict" 11)Thomas Jr. b. 1831 La m. Nancy Martha Biggs (1841-1884) their children: Thomas III, Harvey, Ellen, Nora Jane. Nora Jane m. James Andrew King, in another post re: Moses King.Thomas Jr. m a second time to Delalia and had children: Sarah Ann, Lillie b. abt 1882, J.N. and J.W. It wasn't known if Thomas Sr. ever went back to his family, but AJ Walker and Azalene Dial were married in Trinity Co. at the home of Atwood Dean and Elizabeth "Babe" Walker Dean (AJ's cousin). In order for AJ to have a cousin, Thomas Sr. must have had some other family around. The story goes that Thomas Sr's father (thought to be Thomas also) was a very early settler of AL. This family of Walkers was known to be in Tyler, Harris, Brazoria, Limestone, Galveston and Trinity Counties mid 1800s to 1900. Any cousins out there? The story goes that Thomas father (thought to be Thomas also) was a very early settler of AL. thanks, Sandy
