Associated families: VANSICKLE, SMITH, FLETCHER, PRICE I'm having no luck in my search for W. A. Webb and his family. He and his parents were born in NC but I have no idea where and without a first name, I'm stumped. I believe his name to probably be William but have no proof. The first place I find him is in Rusk County, Tx with Henderson, Tx being the county seat. Many of these families have members buried in New Prospect Cemetery just outside of Henderson, TX. The following information was taken from Rusk County census information. W. A. Webb, 26 yrs., w m; born NC. Parents born NC Teressia Virginia Webb, 23 yrs.; w f, wife born TX, parents born GA L. E. Webb, 1 yr; w f, daughter; born TX, Anderson W. Smith, w m, 61 yrs; father-in-law, born GA. His parents born NC S. H. (Sarah Pendergrass) Smith, w f, 60 yrs; mother-in-law, born GA. Parents born VA & SC In what appears to be another household, there is also a Sarah Webb, 33, b. AL parents b. AL. No mention of a husband or marital status shown. Listed in her household are Minnie Smith, 1 month, b. TX with father (no name given) b. in AL. Also shown are children from Sarah's former marriage with their father being b. in AL : William R. Fletcher, 11 yrs., b. AR; Susan Fletcher, 10 yrs., b. AR; Lenard Fletcher, 8 yrs, b. AR; John Fletcher, 5 yrs., b. TX; and Darthula, 4 yrs, b. TX There is a Vansickle family connection as shown on the 1900 Rusk County, TX census: Benjamin E. Vansickle, 28, single, b. 3-1872 TX, parents b. TX; Mother: Sarah E.Vansickle, 51, b. 4-1849 TX, parents b. GA . GrandfatherAnderson W. Smith 85, b. 7-1814 GA. Widower. Cousin: Minnie Webb, 10, b. 5-1880, TX Father b. NC, Mother b. TX. Shown in the household of Henry C. Dorsey is a James Webb, 25 yrs, b. 2-1875 in GA. Father b. GA, Mother b.TN; noted as son-in-law; Lula M. Webb, 24 yrs, b. 12-1875 GA; noted as daughter; Louis V. Webb, 1 yr, b.10-1899 TX; son of James and Lula and noted as grandson of head of household. The 1910 Rusk Co, TX census shows: Thomas M. Webb, 40 b. GA; parents b. GA. Married 20 yrs. Mary M. Webb, 36, wife, b. GA; parents b. GA. Easie N., 16 yrs, b. GA (female) Willie E., 13 yrs, b. GA (female)? not sure about this Abner A., 11, b. GA (no gender shown) Alpheus S., 6 yrs, b. TX (shown as son) Thomas M. Jr., 4 yrs, b. TX Mollie, 21 months, b. TX (This was the only Webb surname shown on 1910 census) I'm not sure if this last Webb family is related to W. A.Webb, but most likely they are. I would appreciate any help in my search.

I am looking for a page to search on the SSDI. I had one that I really liked because the format was so easy. I can't find it. I don't like the one that rootsweb or ancestry.com uses. The one I had seemed like it had a yellow border around it. You could clear the page and start a new search from the same page everytime, without having to back to far out of the program. I am in hopes that you will let me know if you have one that you prefer over the others. Thanks, Rhonda McDonald Redding

Is there anyone in the Cherokee county area that has seen or knows of an Isaacks family cemetery? I'm interested in information on Mary (maiden name unknown) Isaacks (b 1825 MI d about 1851 Cherokee co TX). She was married to Frederick M. Isaacks (b 1825 NC d 1877 Erath co TX) ...he was the son of William and Mary Glass Isaacks. Family rumor has it that she was an indian. I've been unable to locate anything about her and thought *maybe* I could find some bit of information from a gravestone, if there is one. ANYTHING you have to share would be appreciated! Howdy All, Wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the rootsweb Smith County Texas site? It opens for me but I can't access the documents. www.rootsweb.com/~txsmith I have been trying to check there for any record of my grandmother Gertrude FLOWERS who is mentioned in the obituary of her Uncle, R.L. MASTERS, as coming from the town of Troup to the services in 1910. She would have been 25 at the time and not yet married. Her family was from Sulpher Springs, Hopkins Co., TX. Have a feeling I'm going to find her marriage records in Smith - I think she married Eugene Herbert CASSIDY in 1913 and they head for CA. (Or he went ahead and she followed and they were married in CA.) Would at least like to rule out Smith co. if nothing else. It wasn't in Hopkins Co. according to records. Anyway would appreciate hearing from anyone on their ability to access this site. I keep getting a "Connection Timed Out" with each thing I try and open there. My system seems to be working fine so I'm just wondering if theres another trick to getting into the Smith Co. information. Thanks for any direction you may be able to provide, Chris Cassidy Schutz Port Orchard, WA
De, I have just started my research on my GANN line. John CLOVER b. 1824/1825 AR, my gggrandfather, m. Susan MASSINGILL b. 1826 TN, Susan is the daughter of George Washington MASSINGILL/Mary Ann "Polly" GANN. Is it possible the two following persons you listed as buried at Naraway Cemetery, Angelina Co., TX: Nathan Wilson GANN b. 1821 d. 1895/Sarah Jane GANN b. 1847 d. 1901 could be related to "Polly" GANN, shown above? I do not have the MASSINGILL/GANN data before me. Looking at the birthdates (26 years age difference) of your GANN couple, would it appear to you to possibly be a second marriage? If you wish, at my next outing to the local library, I will check Marriage Records of Nacogdoches, in the event your GANN couple married in the nearby county. I too will check what is available for Angelina Co., TX. Have you placed a query on the Genforum GANN surname forum? Collectively our combined research may be more productive. Betty in Texas
I know we all get lots of request for lookups and that is a good thing but extremely time consuming as I have discovered in my zeal to be a good neighbor. I have posted an extensive database of family related names on World Connect and believe this is the PERFECT answer for researchers to be able to quickly do their own lookups and save many folks many hours of un rewarded research. What I am trying to say is that if you haven't posted your GEDCOMS to WorldConnect and you are asking for lookups from those of us who have then you many be missing the opportunity to find the links to your brick walls. If anyone has any problems with creating a GEDCOM and would like to know how there are plenty of sites with that information including World Connect. This technology and software will speed up the process of finding lost lines tremendously. Thank you for your consideration. This was an unsolicited remark and request. I was born and raised around Dallas, Garland areas and my parents were pioneering families in "East Texas". I have always been led to believe that East Texas was where the oil boomed, i.e., including but not limited to Upshur, Gregg, Tyler, Nacogdoches, Shelby, etc. Why am I not seeing any queries and/or concerns about Upshur and Gregg??? When referring to "East Texas". That is where it all started isn't it? Sorry, Sue K from Gilmer
