    1. INTERESTING HISTORICAL DIARY
    2. A cousin of mine directed me to a webpage with a wonderful 1839 DIARY written by Clinton Harrison MOORE. The descriptions that Mr. Moore gives about his journey from Tennessee to Texas are fabulous. I found the Diary especially interesting because when he finally settled around the Austin, Texas, area, he met a BARTON family and stayed there. This Diary really makes history come alive, and gives one an outstanding picture of the times of the early Texas Republic. It also lets one know what traveling was really like back then. Caroleen Dorsey Williams Don't miss this one. 1. Confederate Battle Flag
    2. James Phares
    3. Here is the site of a group trying to have the flag removed in South Carolina: http://www.scunited.org/ Please take the time to email their editor with your comments, either pro or con. Below is a copy of the message I submitted: Editor, www.scunited.org, My Confederate ancestors fought to defend Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas from the invading armies of the North. None owned slaves. I fly the Battle flag to honor their memory and their sacrifice. It is only fitting that other descendents of Confederate soldiers should choose to honor their heritage by flying the flag. It is also important that we pass down to following generations our ideals and views concerning the actions of our ancestors. This can be done through the establishment of family traditions such as flying the Battle flag and the resulting discussion of its underlying meaning. When all Confederate symbols are removed from public view and our children receive only the in-school indoctrination of the Northern point of view, our heritage will be truly lost. The NAACP and other Black groups are always preaching "Black Pride!!...Be proud of your heritage and take pride in being Black!! African-Americanism!!" I and other descendants of Confederate soldiers want the same thing... Confederate Pride!!...Be proud of our heritage! Take pride in being Southern and the descendants of citizens of the Confederate States of America!! Confederate-Americanism!! Southern heritage groups are not attacking Blacks, their heritage, or their symbols. Look around and you see Black History Month activities in the making in all our schools and communities. Why then are the Blacks attacking the cherished symbols of our heritage? Join us in celebrating our heritage as we join Blacks in celebrating their's. > >Jim Phares ><pharesj@datastar.net> At 12:42 AM 01/29/2000 -0600, you wrote: >There are some folks who are trying to have Confederate plaques and >monuments removed. > >Please take your time to check out this situation and vote. > >http://www.texasvoterguide.com/polls/confederates.htm > > >-- >Peggy > >MawPeggy@ectisp.net ICQ 31827094 Maw Peggy @ AOL IM >Herridge@onelist.com WmWilson@onelist.com Honnoll-Hunnell@onelist.com >BallingerHSclassof64@onelist.com >http://homepages.go.com/~mawp/ > >I'm getting paid to surf, read e-mails, play games, etc. and will be >happy to share info on how you can, too! > >

    1. Fw: Re: Fwd: CEMETERY BILL...
    2. This is a forward from another mail list but as there was a discussion some months ago on this mail list, regarding destruction of cemeteries, I thought this might be of interest to you. Wanda This item should be of interest to all West Virginia Researchers. Pennsylvania enacted legislation several years ago stating that private cemeteries on private lands could not be destroyed by private land owners without first contacting families with people buried there. A big fight is currently going on in Jasper County, Missouri over access to the Moss Springs Cemetery. This bill could set a precedent. > Ed & Phyllis Griffith wrote: > > > The West Virginia Legislature is again considering > a bill (SB 90) which > > should be of interest to all genealogists with > ties to this state. > > > > The bill deals with public access to > cemeteries located on private > > land. 2. Rose OK is in southeastern Mayes County, about 9 miles east of Locust Grove. which is east of Tulsa in the Northern part of the state. Since Locust Grove has a pop. of only about 1300, Rose isn't on the map because it's so small.

    1. Need info on SHABA LIVERMAN and REUBEN REID. Also BARTON.
    2. I have just learned that my great great grandmother SHABA LIVERMAN died in Starville, Smith Co., TX. I do not know her death date, but she married REUBEN REID ca. 1927 in Jefferson Co., Alabama, and had her last child about 1847. I was hoping that someone reading this is acquainted with the Starville area, and the cemeteries there, or else, that someone has some Smith Co. cemetery books that could help me find out if there is a SHABA LIVERMAN REID or REUBEN REID buried in or around the Smith Co. area, especially around Starville. Shaba Liverman(Livermore) and Reuben Reid were the parents of my great grandmother, Mary Adline Reid, who married ELLIOTT MONROE BARTON of the Crim's Chapel community in Rusk Co. ,TEXAS. ELLIOTT MONROE BARTON was the son of J.BENJAMIN BARTON who was hanged by horse thieves in mid 1800s in Harrison Co.,Texas, during the Regulator Moderator War. If there are any BARTONS out there who have Barton info, or who want to share BARTON info, please contact me. Thank you, Caroleen Dorsey Williams, Henderson, Rusk Co., TEXAS

Some of the results are free on the site and other results are only available to subscribers (me), there may be a certain report you would like, let me know.
