Is there anyone out there researching the Felps Family of East Texas. If so, please contact me at TUCK1946@AOL.COM Thanks in advance James Andrew Tucker
Can anyone tell me what the term "bonus money" in a tax record would mean? In looking at Hopkins Co Tax Rolls 1846-1882, I found this entry for my gg-grandfather: "Acres --, Horses (2) $230, BONUS MONEY $15, Miscellaneous $80" Did he have to pay taxes on bonus money (or was he given a bonus because he had so little???) He was a Methodist circuit-riding preacher. Thanks Mary Wingo Anderson
Regretfully, I have learned that Fr Hebert was found dead in his home this afternoon. Please watch for details in the news and pass the word to others who may have known him or were familiar with all his work on records of south and southwest Louisiana, among others. A great loss to the world of genealogy. Yolanda Pepper Miller
I haven't heard much lately, is everyone on a holiday? I really enjoyed the East Texas thang--it's just too quiet. I wondered if anyone has heard of Kittrell, Texas. My GGrandfather Theodore GILBERT and GGrandmother Edna ANDREWS were married there 18 Jan 1899. I see no record of the place on my maps. Also, I have a listing for Clapp Cemetery in Walker County, Texas, if anyone's ancestors are buried there I wouldn't mind looking it up. I only have deaths to 1991. Hope to hear from you, Trace Researching: GILBERT, ANDREWS, WILLIAMS, MORGAN, BROCK and McWILLIAMS

Here's some various links that might be of interest to you fellow genealogists out there. Many are on my site...but I've got over 2000 categorized links on Firstmom's that lead to great resources...cant post all 2000 so I will post a few of my categories and let you browse from there: Firstmom's Ship Lists -25 ships I transcribed, links leading to thousands more. http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/ships.htm Firstmom's Military links for genealogy- includes War of 1812 all the way to Veitnam era. Categorized by wars, and also states in the Civil War. Also includes links and info on getting military records from the National Archives. http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/military.htm Ok this one isnt mine, but it has over 480 rated links, each with a description, so it is a good site to check out....you'll see my page towards the top of the ratings. http://www.worldwide-top100.net/tops5/rankem.cgi?action=in&id=firstmom Freebies for Genealogists- includes links forms/letters in various languages for sending requests for records overseas, and also forms to print free to keep track of your own genealogy data, graphics, clip-art, volunteer lookup sites, places to get free family homepages, Gedcom readers, just lots of neat stuff! http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/free.htm US States -categories for each state, some with over 100 links have their own page. http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/states.htm Non-Usa- this one is for all the other countries. Again, ones who have more than around 50-100 links have their own page (Germany, Ireland etc) and you'll find their link here. http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/nonusa.htm Ancestry.com and Kindred Konnections- Search both huge sites (Ancestry has over 2000 databases now) from this one little page: http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/ancestor.htm Firstmom's Genealogy Webring- It's a webring linking together sites of genealogical interest. This is another place you could add your site...all free, and we have some nice sites to browse there as well. http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/webring.htm Or if yours is a commercial genealogy site you might be better at: http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/comgen.htm Commercial Genealogy Ring, it's free too. Ok...have fun with it and good luck searching! Kathy ---- <A HREF="http://www.worldwide-top100.net/tops5/rankem.cgi?action=in&id=ancestry"> Top 100 Genealogy Web Sites</A>

Hello all! I just listed another experienced Texas Researcher on Firstmom's Genealogy Researcher's List and thought I would let you all know that she's available there to help you. She's got access to every Texas census, plus soundex and indexes, 3 county's obituaries, Civil War, births, deaths, marriages, National Archives of Ft. Worth Texas and just all kinds of great resources that might help you find your brick wall ancestors! If you'd like to read her information, as well as many other states plus Scotland researchers, you can go to: http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/research.html or if you can click in email: <A HREF="http://members.tripod.com/~KHuish/research.html">Firstmom's Genealogy Researcher's List</A> Just scroll down to "Texas" or use the Quick Map and choose that state. Good luck in your search! Hopefully she can help make your family tree grow! Feel free to pass this on, to wherever you think there is someone needing Texas help, as I only announce new additions to a couple main state lists and not individual counties.
