2. Louise Kohl
    3. Both of my parents were born in Van Zandt County, and all their people were from Kaufman, County. The same kinds of stories filled the lives of us six children. Although we traveled and lived in other places all our lives, I never was able to visit the memories they talked about until late in life. Your story brought tears and feelings of the first time I visited my grandparents homestead in Texas. The first time I found a relation on line from a careing Texas researcher and the wonderful friends I have made from the area you type about. My dad had dealings with a still in his youth, and worked on the railroad. A lot of history, and a lot of memories that stay alive in the memories of us children. Thank you, Louise Kohl .

And our thanks again to the list for helping to make this trip of 3/22-25th.and search the best ever and something to remember. Lots better then Triple A Club. Zella and Carl, Wichita Kansas My father and mother grew up and married in San Augustine. He would talk about the trees and lumber and the truck he drove hauling pulp wood. After moving to Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx metroplex our excursions to San Augustine and Nacogdoches took on a more joyful meaning as we would walk through those trees at different stretches of Hwy 287, pick pecans and sometimes just sit and eat and watch the traffic go by. He would describe different nature scenes from his childhood or name the sounds of the nite. My mother would speak of hide and seek and drawing water from the spring I remember being crystal clear. My father, his father and uncles would tend a moonshine distillery there in those woods and my mother would laugh in describing how they ran white lightning around and across the Louisiana border. I shall never forget the looks on their faces or the tales they wove. My mother is gone now and my father has alzheimers, but when I look at the trees, I remember the animation and the love he felt delivering pulp wood and the trees of San Augustine. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com Regards: Carl and Zella (daughter) Coffman 1448 S Handley St. Wichita, KS 67213 ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Dear East Texas List, This one is for you. Dear J. Brown, Of course I remember you with your kindness. The Piney Tree's Huh. Not sure I can yet. I could Fwd a e-mail or two from people who live in the woods of tail pine trees, from Harrison co, and south and east a county or so. These people talking about their area with so much love and pride it just moves me. I remember talk about the piney woods getting started about 3 months ago, and Genealogy went out the window, and the whole list had something to say about the piney woods. Lots of neat things were said: Gods country! When I start seeing the piney woods, I know home is not much farther. Ohh,I live in Dalas, and how I miss the piney woods were I grew up. I asked if Wichita was in north piney woods? We were just having a lot of fun until the list owner brought us back to the list purpose. All the talk made me want to see the piney woods. As I need a marriage lic from Harrison Co. and would like to see where my grandfather was born; and my college daug. has spring break, wife needs to get away for 2-3 days--with the forgoing, it just seemed it was piney tree time. Gegrads, Zella and My Dad, Carl Carl, What are the PINEY TREES? Tell us about them! I love to read your messages. 1. Rusk Co. Cemeteries
    2. Dear Nicole, If the Chamber of Commerce is open, visitors can always get a cemetery map there. Chamber is located on North Main Street by the Courthouse. If you are in town and the Chamber is closed, your next good bet would be the Rusk Co. Library located in downtown. There is a cemetery map in the large maroon book called Rusk Co. History. It was the first book of two published about life and families in Rusk Co. There is an Old Prospect Cem. located south of Mt. Enterprise. One has to turn left off US 259 just before going into Nacogdoches Co. It would be best to have a map in finding this cemetery, or any cemeteries. Rusk Co. also has a PROSPECT cemetery, and a NEW PROSPECT cemetery, which is located several miles north of Henderson off Hwy 43. Look for signs and it will be a left turn. TXGenWebRusk County, Texas Go to this site and click on Rusk County Cemeteries. Many of the Rusk Co. cemeteries and locations are listed here, and it is a great help in searching out the WHO, WHAT, and WHERE of the cemeteries of Rusk Co. Happy Hunting, Caroleen Dorsey Williams
