    2. Jimmie Pauline Taylor
    3. I am searching for Ross's in East Texas, gggrandfather Anson Ross, half Indian married a Indian woman who was b 1833 in MO. she died at her family village in East TX. 1878.There was a epidemic of flue and fever in the village when she went to visit her tribe, she died from the epidemic. She is suppose to be Choctaw. Prior to her death Anson and her had moved to Burnet, TX. I have been given Anson's roll number as 2602. I am unsure of this. I also am not sure of a Indian village in East Texas , have you heard of such?? If so please let me know where it was located. They had two sons, Anderson A. Ross b1865 and Thomas Benjamin Ross b 1861. If any one has any match with these people, please let me know. BJTaylor

    1. Thanks
    2. I want to thank each of you for the help on the maps. I've gotten a lot of great ideas and sites to search. In my search for an elusive ancestor I came up with the idea to hang a large board with state's counties as they were when the family was passing through, this way I can glance up and make sure I'm posting or searching the correct county for the time period. The Internet has really opened up genealogy, I started 20 years ago when it involved months of waiting for answer backs, lots of wasted time and effort. But the downfall of the Internet is there is much there I don't remember where I've been and where I'm going!! I'm going to start logging this information on the board. I hope you will forgive this lengthy thank you, I thought someone else might be able to use this idea too! Val Surnames, BAUGH SCOGINS ROGERS

    1. Check out Maps of the United States
    2. Hi, Val: Click below and then choose your state, such as North Carolina. After that click on (under the heading of State Map), North Carolina (outline map). It will give you the state with each county outlined. However, these are not "old" county lines, but should be better than nothing. Hope this helps some.
