    3. Hi I am looking for Vincent Meyer or Myers. He was in Lavaca County , Tx. on the census in the 1860. He was born 06/12/1847 in Austria Germany. Died in 10/10/1932. Became a citizen in 1852 and Naturalized in 1860. His wife that I know about from the census is Barbra Neuman and she may have died in 1884? He had a son named Vincent Antone Meyer. So that is my story so far. Any help would be great. Or ideas on where to look. Thanks in advance for any help. Teresa [email protected]

Not only do they not have Richard and Alice Chaney in 1900, they don't have my McWright/McRight line that I know were there in 1870. Thanks for thinking of me though. Best regards, Lynn

    1. BOOKS FOR RESEARCH
    2. I have received several posts, almost too many to answer concerning books to research the census, cemeteries etc for Nacogdoches, Rusk, Cherokee, Panola, etc. I would recommend that you search the site for Ericson Books. Carolyn Ericson & Kathryn Hooper Davis have done wonderful work on transcriptions of census microfilm and other data to make researching a great time saver and also to give the researcher the opportunity to gather and maintain their own libraries at home when others are not available. All of their publications are reasonably priced and quickly accessable. When I find something I want, I am lucky enough to be able to drive to Nacogdoches (3 hours away) once in a while and go to her home/office and pick up what I need and to browse and gather other publications. When I cannot make the trip, I find what I want and send her an email of my choices. I ask them to get the package ready for mailing and put my check in the mail. As soon as they receive it, my books are mailed. It works really well and surprisingly fast. They do not take credit cards. Here is the site to browse for the publications available and also Carolyn Ericson's email to contact her if you have questions before ordering or whatever: They are soft cover and very inexpensive I think. Here's her site address and her email: http://www.webpsalms.com/eb/index.htm Carolyn Ericson [email protected] Enjoy. It's really nice to have access to this kind of information from someone you can recommend and rely on to help with your search. 3. Angus, The below site resulted from a search and all appear to be about the Hurricane in Galveston in 1909. Is it possible that your hurricane was not in 1907, but in 1909. These are all articles in the Houston Post and I have no idea where you may find the archives. As you may or may not know, the Houston Post is no longer in existence. It was bought by the Houston Chronicle a number of years ago. It may be that Clayton Genealogical Library in Houston may have copies. Or perhaps at the University of Texas. 1. RE: Lewis Research
    2. Angus P. Robinson
    3. I accidentally deleted a query concerning my Lewis connection so I have to send this reply to the list rather than directly to the person seeking help. Please forgive this intrusion. My foster father was named Frederick Charles Lewis, b. 12 Aug. 1897 in Polk County, FL. The name of his parents were: CHARLES ANDREW LEWIS, b. Mar. 1874, Florida MOLLIE TAYLOR, b. May 1878, Georgia. As far as I can determine the latter couple married in Florida in 1896. I have no other information. Dates were taken from Tampa, Florida census records where the Lewis family lived in the early part of 1900. The Lewis family lived in the household of John (age 46 - b. Mar. 1854)) and Mattie Taylor (age 44 - b. May 1858) in the 1900 Tampa (Hillsborough County, Florida census. Both, John and Mattie, were born in Georgia. I can remember my Grandmother Robinson calling Dad Lewis, good naturally, a damn Yankee. He just laughed. Tracing LEWIS' is like trying to trace Adams or Jones. There are just too darn many unless someone points the researcher in the right direction. Angus "Scotty" Robinson
