Please be in prayer for these young men's families and for the buddies they have left behind. I've never heard Mark so down as he was each time I spoke to him today. 2. To the list: You may have already heard, but for those of you that haven't....Texas A&M's traditional bonfire preparations have collapsed. Early hours of this morning during securing measures, the timbers prepared for the traditional bonfire on Thanksgiving Eve at Texas A&M University have collapsed. There are fatalities and serious injuries. A terrible thing for the Corps of Cadets. They are still searching for those that may be buried under these timbers. Say a prayer for those involved and remember the workers that are trying to save them. 1. BRICK WALL
    2. P.K.Nicholson
    3. Hi Eddie: That is probably the same brick wall I encountered! Some of my people left Angelina Ct. and followed the timber logging business north into Harrison Ct. about that time. They lived in the 'Fronts', such as 'Watermans Front ' which was abandoned when the area was logged out. I.E. no records! In abt. 1900 the oil booms hit East Texas and many people started working in the oil fields, which was a very transient life style. Guess what? No records! I am searching for WOOD, CRANE, & McGINNES. Good Luck. Pete

    2. Eddie Berry
    3. I'm looking for a hole in my big BRICK WALL. All counties mentioned below are a good possibility. My g-grandmother was Josephine McLane (McClain) b. 1866 (possibly Trinity county) to Maranda Kate "Cassie" (Franklin) McLane and _________ McLane (McClain). The Franklin's lived in Trinity County before moving to Angelina County. Josephine was 14 years old in the 1880 census of Angelina County living with her grandfather, William Plummer Franklin, Sr. She married ________ King sometime between the 1880 census and 25 Aug,1884 when she married 2nd, James Washington Cheatham as "Mrs." Josephine King. I have not been able to find a marriage license for the King marriage. Josephine must have died between May, 1886, possibly when my grandmother was born, and 3 Aug, 1888 when James Cheatham married 2nd, Sarah Lavinia "Viny" McIntosh. Any lead would be much appreciated. -- Eddie Berry [mailto:eberry@ev1.net] Visit My Web Page @ http://users.ev1.net/~eberry BAKER - BERRY - CHEATHAM - GILLMAN - MAY - STRAIGHT

    1. FROM THE LISTOWNER: Our Christian Heritage Rights
    2. P Phillips
    3. Dear Friends, I just got this "Christian Heritage" petition on East-Texas-Roots. As sympathetic as many of us may be to this cause, ETR simply isn't the appropriate place. I'm writing this immediately to ask everyone to please DO NOT REPLY or DISCUSS this petition publicly on East-Texas-Roots. If you want to reply, please reply privately to jamajan@bristolbay.com. East-Texas-Roots is not moderated, so I did not, of course, see this message until it was sent to the entire list. It was, I am sure, meant well, but is not appropriate. However, it need not become a problem if we do not reply or respond to it publicly. There is NO NEED to express your opinion about it on the list, because the determination has ALREADY been made that it is inappropriate and as in the past, the real problems are only created when people send their opinions to the list itself. To determine that this petition is not appropriate for East-Texas-Roots is not in any way, shape or form a vote against the subject of the petition. It is simply a reiteration of the fact that *this* particular list is for East Texas Genealogy and subscribers have a right to expect that that is what it will be about. There are loads and loads and *loads* of email lists -- for example, on onelist.com and other places where this petition *would* be an appropriate topic of discussion. I have writen to the person who sent the petition and suggested several places to find lists that would welcome the petition. If you want to express any kind of opinion, pro or con about the peitition itself, please write DIRECTLY to jamajan@bristolbay.com. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
