    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [EARNSHAW] Earnshaws from Healey Stones in the Rochdale area.
    2. Adele Earnshaw
    3. The earliest of my EARNSHAWs (so far, at any rate), James, was born there in the mid-18th Century. From there they scattered to the surrounding towns. I have yet to discover *anyone* researching these EARNSHAWs. I’ve got quite a lot of ‘bones’ very few have any ‘meat’ on them, though..... I’d be pleased to share what I have. Regards to the list. 1. [EARNSHAW] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

Author: marcymcleod6002 Surnames: Earnshaw Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.earnshaw/166.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Holly, Byron Earnshaw and Amy Raphael were my Great Great Grandparents. I noticed back in 2000 my dad Lee McLeod left a message on the board, I haven't gotten a chance to ask him if he had any further correspondence with any of the ladies that responded. My Grandfather was George Byron Earnshaw, son of Henry John Earnshaw (sibling to Lavinia, Minnie, Matilda, and Lena) and Madeleine Tom. Unfortunately that is the most I know, I have seen a few pictures growing up of family but do not have any of my own to share. I found a website just today with a pretty extensive list of descendants of Byron and Amy and was immediately excited when I seen all of the names. Hopefully this weekend I will see my dad and find out as much as he knows in hopes that I will have something additional to share with you and I would be very grateful for any information you may have to share as well. I have been working on my tree and am descended from Thomas Earnshaw and Grace Walsh who married 1744 at St Leonard the Less. I found the site Lancashireonlineparishclerk has the records which may help. Unfortunately Earnshaw and Sharrock are common surnames in the area. Author: id_martyn52 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.earnshaw/252.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Joan, Whilst I can not answer your specific query, my own research after a good deal of elimination can offer you some limited information re Elizabeth Earnshaw and James Arbuckle. James background: James ARBUCKLE voluntarily enlisted at Sydney, Australia to fight in the New Zealand Wars 1861-66. The only details I have are: Regt No: 1143 Rank: Private Name: Arbuckle, James DOB: approx 1840 Age at enlistment: 23yrs Height: 5 feet 8 inches Occupation: Carter Date of Enlistment: enrolled 24 Sep 1863 Place of Enlistment: Sydney, Australia Place of Birth: Ireland, County Tyrone, Ireland Ship to NZ Wars: RMS Lord Ashley Unit: 2nd Waikato Militia Regiment Employed: Commissariat Transport Corps (CTC) - probably a horse team drive Service: 1863-66 Awarded the New Zealand Medal 1861-66 (believed to be not issued/collected - I have purchased this, hence my research) Awarded 2 x Grants of Land in NZ (this was the deal - land for war service encouraged volunteers to enlist for the wars) - location unk Land Grant available WEF 6 June 1867 (may not have been taken up) No further records of James in NZ - I believe he returned to Sydney in 1866. Married Elizabeth in 1866 at age 27 in Sydney. It is assumed that James emigration from Ireland to Australia occurred sometime between 1840-1863 (whether alone or with family is unknown). That, apart from James' medal is all I have managed to find - can you offer anything else ?? I will keep looking for the Irish connection (be surprised if his father was not James). They emigrated from Yorkshire England to Sydney New South Wales in 1841, with their 3 children John, Elizabeth and Catherine. They had 4 more children in Australia, James Alexander, Lydia, William and Thomas. James Alexander Earnshaw was my great grandfather and was born about 1843, In 1867, he married Jane Mitchell, who had emigrated from Scotland. They had 4 children, Mary Jesse, John Alexander, William John and Henry Thomas. James Alexander died in 1878 and Jane returned to Scotland with the 4 children. On James death certificate it has Mary Brook recorded as his mother's maiden name. I am trying to find out about my Australian ancestors.Henry Thomas Earnshaw was my grandfather but I would like to know whatever happened to his aunts and uncles in Australia. Author: ca_earnshaw Surnames: Earnshaw Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.earnshaw/53.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Peter Earnshaw, I hope you receive this, I realise it is a few years since you posted your message. Frederick Earnshaw lived in Euroa, a small rural village in Victoria Australia and died in 1933. I at first did not think he was related to me because he was listed as roman catholic on his war service records. My G-G grandfather, Robert Earnshaw did have a brother Thomas, their parents were John and Isabella ( nee Helme) and John's parents may have been Thomas and Elizabeth, I have no evidence of this but others have claimed they are. John and Isabella lived in Long Preston. Frederick married Mary Agnes Gallagher and had a son Charles who married Robina McAsey. With your information I'm inclined to think Frederick may be a relative of mine because it is curious that he lived in Euroa and surrounds, which is where all my ancestors , eventually settled. ( I have just moved to live in Euroa). I do hope you receive this and it is helpful, regards Cheryl Earnshaw Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
