    1. Isaac, William and John Earnest
    2. Hamilton
    3. I am researching the Earnest surname for the following individuals: Isaac Earnest (born apprx. 1812) in PA - wife - Mary ? Location possibly Greene County, PA Children - Jacob Earnest, John A. (J.A.) Earnest and William H. Earnest M.D. Jacob - born in PA or OHIO - 1844 J.A. - or John A. Earnest was born in PA or OHIO abt. 1846. William H. Earnest - born in PA or OHIO abt. 1848. Per an article on William H. Earnest William H. Earnest, M.D., has lived in Seymour since October, 1871, and has built up a large and lucrative practice, being one of the most successful practitioners of the county. He was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania, in 1848, a son of Isaac and Mary Earnest. His mother died when he was a child, and his father is still living in Greene County. When he was five years of age he was taken to Putnam County, Ohio, and was there reared and educated. In the spring of 1864, when but little more than fifteen years of age, he enlisted in Company D, One Hundred and Fiftieth Ohio Infantry, and served 100 days. In the spring of 1865 he again enlisted for a year, and was assigned to the One Hundred and Eighty-ninth Ohio Infantry, and served till the close of the war, about nine months. In 1866 he began the study of medicine, and in 1870 graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Cincinnati, and located in Rockport, Ohio, where he remained a year, and then moved to Seymour, Iowa. Dr. Earnest has been twice married. His first wife was Eliza J. Crawfis. She died in Ohio in 1869, leaving one son-Charles E. His present wife was Miss A. M. Rogers. They have one daughter-Marcia. Biographical and Historical Record of Wayne and Appanoose Counties P-379 Interstate Publishing Co Chicago 1886 I tie into John A. or J.A. Earnest whom lived in Kansas - Cowley County, Osage County, and finally Kansas City at the time of his death Feb. 1886. Have tried to find info on this family, but have not been successful. If anyone recognizes any of these names or can assist with this family I would be greatful. Thank you. P. Hamilton

    1. EARNEST Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of old photographs including one of Maggie C. EARNEST taken in 1886 at the M.E. Bare Studio in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. Maggie appears to be less than 2 years of age at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to the photograph of Maggie there is also an older photograph of "Mabel" (no surname) taken at the same studio. Mabel's photo was probably taken in the 1870's with Mabel likely 3-4 years of age at the time. Also recovered from the same source are photographs belonging to the DIPNER, PARTHEMORE, SHEETZ, and FISHER families of Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Jersey Shore, PA. The handwritten names on many appear to have been made by the same hand leading me to believe they are all connected in some manner. I'm hoping to return the photographs to family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. An Earnest web site on RootsWeb
    2. Peter and Connie Bradish
    3. Hello everyone, I'm contemplating starting an Earnest Family Research web site on RootsWeb Freepages and would like to know if you think it would be worthwhile and not duplicate some other work on the web. The purpose would be to post information about the Earnest family for researchers. For example, I have a mimeograph document written in 1939 by William Watson Earnest titled "E A R N E S T F A M I L Y R E C O R D S" in which he documents the "DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS AND ALLETTA LANTERMAN EARNEST OF SANGAMON COUNTY, ILLINOIS". He urges that it be distributed freely and added to as researchers learn more. I've transcribed it (needs proofing) and would like to post it on the web for others to use. I'd also like to convert it into a GEDCOM or other useful form as well. Would a web site like this be of use to you? Is there a better place I should place the above? Thanks and take care... If anyone could share (or point me in a direction) the family's involvement with the church (and I've seen where they were to have known Francis Asbury), I would appreciate learning more of this facet of the family. 3. Hello, I'm was wondering if anybody else is researching the Earnest family of Mifflin County, PA. My ggg grandfather was Adam Earnest b. Jan 1852 m. Matilda ? b. May 1852. I have placed this family in Juniata County in 1880, but all census searches after that have Adam and his family in Mifflin County, PA. I was wondering if anybody has any idea what Matilda's last name was and who Adam Earnests parents were. Adam and Matilda had quite a few children, they were/are: Jacob, Mary Jane, Susannah A., Joseph, Ida R.,Samuel K., Ross M., and Harvey P. All of these people are buried in Mt Rock Cemetary in Lewistown. If anybody is related to or researching this line, I would appreciate you help Thank Carla
