If anyone has any good info please let me know I also think our last name was Aigen I found this looking at a census record for John Eagan it was weird I know our last name has been changed so so much its very hard to know where we came from the only thing I can find is Tipperary Ireland. (maybe) like you said its a confusing tree. But its fun! Thanks, Darrell Eagan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They are supposed to be now in Boston. Information received by their brother Edmond, care of Mr James Egan, Quincy, Mass." AND THIS 1868 " JAMES EAGAN, a native of Prince Edward Island, B. N. A.; his father's name is Philip Eagan, and his mother's name Norah Walsh; he left home twelve years ago; he is 33 years of age; when last heard from he was working on the Pacific Railroad. Information of his whereabouts will be gladly received by his brother, John Eagan, West Quincy, Mass." Some trees have Philip Egan born "1802 in prob Co Kilkenny" living in Charlottetown,PEI. Moving to Quincy, Mass unti his death in 1880. I don't think Philip was a particularly common Egan name. But I did find another early Philip Egan in Griffiths Valualation for Kilvemnon, living in Mullinahone in the townland of Kylefreaghane, it is very near Poulacapple East and right on the border of County Kilkenny. Sometimes I see Poulacapple listed as Kilkenny, I am not sure why. I think Philip Egan born 1802 and the Philip Egan posted in "Lost Irish Immigrants" are the same person. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Is anyone familiar with the book "The Egans of Quincy". I would love to see that sometime. We found a ship list that has a John (17), Mary (13), a younger John (11) and who is transcribed as Keeman Eagan (25) from Liverpool to NY in 1839. We do pick him up in Ohio abt 1850 and thereafter. From Ohio he went to Indiana and that is where he died. He was married twice, once in Ohio, once in Indiana, both wives died prior to his death. He had 6 children total (possibly 1 more who died) and 2 step-sons. We are searching for any info prior to 1850 in Ohio and specifically prior to his immigration. In all our research we have no mention of any relatives, such as siblings, parents, etc. He possibly was in Pennsylvania prior to Ohio. Anyone have Eagans who also came from Co. Clare, Ireland? Does this scenario match anyone else researching Eagan, Egan from Co Clare? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
