The coroner was involved in the event of any sudden death, even if it was of natural causes. Coroner's inquests are the property of the Coroner and his to destroy after a few years unless the case is of particular interest in which event they are closed for 75 years. More inquests were kept in the 20th century but still not all. Your best bet is the relevant local paper which, at that time, often had a verbatim report of the inquest. However, it's still worth checking the record office to see if they have anything; don't get your hopes up though. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
