    3. Nos da,   Very recently Welsh parish registers, covering about half the counties of Wales, can be searched on Find My Past.   Also recently the Board of Trade indexes to mariners for the period 1835 to 1857 can be searched at the same source. These are particularily important for those searching for ordinary seaman as there are no indexes of ordinary mariners from 1857 - 1919. Except for indexes such as CLIP and Swansea Mariners etc.   I have been looking at the records for Register Tickets in use from 1845 to about 1854. These give dates of birth and the man's description. I have done some searching for men born at Cardigan. It appears from my small sample that some men born elsewhere in Ceredigion are given Cardigan as their birth place. Perhaps the transcriber (or who ever wrote the originals) were unfamiliar with the Welsh language and erred on the side of caution by giving Cardigan as place of birth.   hwyl mawr   Reg Davies   www.welshmariners.org.uk       ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, 2 March 2012, 8:00 Subject: DYFED Digest, Vol 7, Issue 64 ----- Forwarded Message ----- Please delete any irrelevant notes when replying to this digest. Re: davies family ysbytty ystwyth (Lynne Ingalls) Hi Is there anyone amongst you who is researching Davies' from Ysbytty Ystwyth and surrounding area from c 1800 to 1826 ? I've found a marriage entry for an Elizabeth Davies and Edward Jones there in 1826  I'm hoping that she was the third wife of Edward Jones, Hafodgau . Sadly ,the other two wives died ,the second in December 1823 . (This information came to hand yesterday ) I had presumed that Edward's chidren were by his marriage to Mary Jones in 1820 but as they were born after 1826 it now poses another little question as to who was their mother !!   Thanks again Diolch Buddug Buddug - I found this while searching on Google: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CGN/Olivers.html#Appendices.  The Jones family of Ysbytty Ystwyth is mentioned in the Appendix, and an Edward Jones is listed in the Index of names.  Perhaps you could find the book at a library?
