Evening all My CD drive has just chewed up my Dyfed FHS Pembrokeshire Pre-1813 marriage index. Would SKS mind checking for the location of the marriage of the following: Bulkeley Philipps and Philippa Adams, 28/3/1741 Findmypast have put the indexed the entry and original register under Begelly. For several reason I don't think this is right. Many thanks in advance Jon
Hi Jon A licence was issued 27 Mar 1741 for the marriage of Bulkeley Philipps of Haverfordwest and "Phillis" Adams (St Davids marriage bonds, National Library of Wales). Often the parish is specified but, in this case, it is not. However, it looks like the marriage took place at Bosherston. The Pembrokeshire marriage index (Bosherston parish) contains the entry: 1741, Mar 28 (L) - Bulkeley Philipps Esq = Mrs Philippa Adams This is corroborated by the transcript of Bosherston Registers made by the former Vicar of Bosherston. They are on-line at: http://www.revjones.fsnet.co.uk/stackgrpreg/bowed.htm I do not have a subscription to Findmypast but it is possible to make searches without. They have clearly misplaced marriages occurring at Bosherston, attributing them to Begelly instead. I checked two further marriages from the Begelly index: Henry Rowe and Alice Meare(s) in 1732 and Peter Courtenay and Mary Jones in 1739. Both are listed as Begelly in the Findmypast index. As to why Bulkeley Philipps and Philippa Adams married at Bosherston, I do not know. Jonathan Many thanks. You have solved the conundrum. I checked the link you provided for baptisms/burials and these similarly have been mis-filed on FMP. I will drop the company an email. Thanks also to others for their comments.
