Hi List, Been a while since I asked for help, but finally getting back into the swing of research again , have finally found my 3 great grandparents marriage entry in Llanegwad church on 23rd August 1823. However I find that parents are not entered, but a witness with same name as Thomas Lewis [my 3x great grandad] so could possibly be his father? Also a George Jones of Llanegwad another witness,. I have tried for sometime to find a baptism of Amy Evans, to no avail, she was born in Meidrim about 1794. Someone kindly tried the records , no luck. Also tried Llanegwad as she married there.again no luck. I wondered about Banns , as it states with parents consent, does Banns have parents names on ? After findmypast has now included parish records of baptirms , I tried again for her , just putting in Carmarthen, I got 1 possible, no first name , but daughter of James Evans of Cilycwm no wifes name. After his name there was something I couldnt quite make out, if anyone has access to this , maybe you could let me know what you think it is. I am envious of people who manage to get back to very early days, I wish I could find her somewhere, before I finally give up & be satisfied with what I have found already. Their children apart from my great great grandma Catherine Lewis were baptised in Llanegwad church, & Amy & Thomas are buried there. no idea where Catherine was baptised either. Any help would be amazing & I thank you for your time. Jackie Tiernan of East Sussex [but welsh through & through] The only way to look into the future, Is by standing on the shoulders of the past.
Dear Jackie, Amy married 1823, born c. 1794....she'd be 29...so why would she need consent of parents? Are you sure you are looking at the correct time frame? Perhaps her husband was under age.
