Dear Megan, There are lots of other Australian destinations for convicts and if he was only transported for 14 years, then he may have returned to the UK after that time. My "own" convict was sentenced similarly and was not allowed to return to Great Britain....so surprisingly he and his wife were later found, after he had completed his sentence, to have travelled to America and back to Australia as passengers....by that time he owned an hotel here, so this must have been a contrasting type of voyage for him!
