    3. Thanks Charani. These websites don’t seem to have records back that far. I was wondering if there was a Jewish colony in Pembrokeshire or around Carmarthen in the 1700's? I know there were Flemish colonies in SW Wales and the Quakers at Milford Haven, but I've not heard if there were any Jewish colonies. I'm particularly interested in the Ashkenazi. The British Jewry list should have someone (or several someones) who can go back that far. http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Ethnic-Jewish/BRITISH-JEWRY.html > I was wondering if there was a Jewish colony in Pembrokeshire or around > Carmarthen in the 1700's? There very likely was. I have an ISSITT family who were reputedly originally Jewish in Monmouthshire in the later half of the 1800s and who are said to have been moving eastwards. I haven't done anything on that family for quite a while now. This link doesn't give a lot of information but it's a possible start point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Wales It lists some books which you may be able to get through your local library that may help. > I know there were Flemish colonies in SW > Wales and the Quakers at Milford Haven, but I've not heard if there were > any Jewish colonies. I'm particularly interested in the Ashkenazi. Although I have both, most of mine were Sephardic. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
