    3. Anne, HANES METHODISIAETH RHAN DDEHEUOL SIR ABERTEIFI in the entry for Tregaron states that Daniel Rowlands (Llangeitho) began preaching at, Nantylles a mile and a half north of Tregaron in 1738. It was chosen as to be most convenient to the inhabitants of Swyddfynnon and Pontrhydfendigaid. In 1742 the preaching was moved to the neighbouring farm of TANYRALLT, which could accommodate the listeners, and it was here the first "Society" was formed. Williams Williams, Pantycelyn was the overseer and used to visit every 6 weeks. In 1744 there were about 20 members. There was never a Chapel or Meeting House, at TANRALLT. The services were held under two large oak trees, it is said. In 1758 the Society moved their services to PENLAN, Tregaron and numbers increased until BWLCHGWYNT Chapel was built in 1774/5. The first Chapels built by the Calvinistic Methodists were: TWRGWYN 1750 LLANGEITHO 1760 LLANON 1769 TREGARON 1775 LAMPETER 1775 Best wishes, ACHWR ======================================== Message Received: Aug 20 2013, 11:22 AM From: "ANNE EVANS" <anneyvonne.evans@btinternet.com> To: "dyfed-L@rootsweb.com" <dyfed-L@rootsweb.com> Cc: Subject: [Dyfed] Tan yr Allt Meeting House Tregaron Dear List, I have tried unsuccessfully to find details of Tan yr allt Meeting House Tregaron  i.e. on Genuki. I have found that it is closed and was a house  turned into a chapel! contrary to what happens today! I should be very grtateful for any info as I am looking for ancestors in that area. I should be surprised if any records remain.   Yvonne Evans ================================ Dyfed list REVISED resources http://home.clara.net/daibevan/DyfedML.html [Dec2012] ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to DYFED-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ACHWR

    3. Dear Anne Yr Achwr's comments make sense of the following... I checked the 1851 ecclesiastic Church individual census returns  - in the individual records there is NO return for a Tan-yr-Allt/Tregaron meeting on census day.   If the meetings were periodic and outside and the cause had moved to Penlan/Bwlchgwynt long before 1851, then this seems a sound reason!  Many thanks Achwr!
