    3. Dear List https://www.gov.uk/probate-search The Probate Service is making available the wills and last letters home of 280,000 soldiers who died in the Great War. There is a charge of £6 to download a document. It can take up to 10 days to have the document made available. (The will I was interested in took three days to be downloadable [.pdf file]) Searching is quicker if you know the soldier's army number. Jen Cairns

    2. It says you have to know the year of death. I don't know that for the fellow I'm interested in researching, but I do have his service number.. somewhere.. Do you know offhand if there's a way of finding the date of death with the service number??
