    1. [Dyfed] Charles Edward THOMAS & Emily JAMES of Haverfordwest

    3. I am continuing to help my aunt in researching her family history. One major stumbling block is the marriage of Charles Edward THOMAS and Emily JAMES that was registered in Haverfordwest in the June quarter of 1877. I have discovered details of Charles Edward's forebears but am stuck with the parentage of Emily. According to the 1881 census, Emily was born in Haverfordwest c 1856/57. After their marriage, the couple lived in Prendergast. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has come across this Emily in their research. Adrian Yorkshire

    3. Hello Adrian I've had a bit of a look as I have lots of Thomas lines in that area. Actually I don't think yours is linked to mine but here is what I have found - tell me if you agree and get back to me if you want more details which I can send you offlist. First of all I think Emily is the one shown in the 1871 census here:- 1871 St Thomas Green, Haverfordwest JAMES, Louisa CHeadWid37MilfordPembrokeshire JAMES, John WStep-SonU16Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire JAMES, EmilyStep-DaughterU 14HaverfordwestPembrokeshire JAMES, William TSonU10"Pembrokeshire JAMES, Mary EDaughterU9"Pembrokeshire JAMES, GeorgeSonU7"Pembrokeshire JAMES, Charles RSonU4"Pembrokeshire PARKER, CharlesLodgerU32French PolisherCornwall PATTERSON, William LodgerU28LabourerLondon JAMES, ThomasSonM5HaverfodwestPembrokeshire As you see Louisa (also shown elsewhere as Lucia or Lucy) is Emily's stepmother. Lucis Cordelia Robinson married William James on 15 November 1859. William was a widower aged 38. He was a solicitor's clerk as you may see in the 1861 census.where thay are living in North Street. Previously he was married to Martha Williams on Jan 21st 1855 in the parish church Lambston There is a burial of a Martha James of North Street in St Martins on Dec 19th 1858 aged 28 which may be her. Let me know what you think. I can give you more details from the marriages if you need them Cheers Pat On 15/10/2013 14:35, Adrian wrote: > I am continuing to help my aunt in researching her family history. > > One major stumbling block is the marriage of Charles Edward THOMAS and > Emily JAMES that was registered in Haverfordwest in the June quarter of > 1877.
