Jennifer, Many families particularly strict nonconformists had skeletons in their cupboards. I have not seen an entry cut or crossed out, but have seen an entry added as a child, when she was a Grandchild. Eldest daughter had an illegitimate son in the late 1830's. He was entered in the bible as a child of his grandmother. The Birth Certificate named his father, but the family would not accept the evidence. It was only when I found his paternal grandfathers will, that named him, his mother and his address, as the illegitimate son of his deceased son, that they accepted the evidence.
