Thanks everyone... very interesting replies. The paper on genetic genealogy from Sandra looks a challenge.  And whilst going through some connected puzzles in my trees I have now come across yet another dodgy marriage. Should keep me busy for a while - but as Brian suggests, time for an aspirin!
