Reading the name Furlong reminded me that some time ago I thought that the child named Eliza Fernall in the 1841 Census , living with John and Alice Phillips in the Parish of Castlemartin should have been written as Eliza Furlong. Without searching through my notes I cannot recall why I made that connection , But Alice Phillips' maiden name was Duggan and there was definitely a connection to the name Furlong. I was never able to find the birth of an Eliza Fernall . If anyone can solve the Fernall / Furlong puzzle please let me know, or if you think I am wrong. Regards, Joan
