Hi I hope I am on the right list for this. If not please re-direct me. I sent this to the Monmouthshire list a week ago and haven't heard a dicky bird. So I thought I would try this list. I have the marriage certificate of Margaret Davies married to Augustus Leach in Abergavenny in March 17th, 1868. Her parents are listed as David Davies, carpenter and its signed by Jane Davies, whom I am assuming is her mother and Thomas Ash and his mark?? I am trying to trace Margaret's family. I am not 100% certain that I have the right family, but I will give you what I have so far. On the 1851 census, there is David Davies aged 35, carpenter living at 8 George St, Pontypool with his wife Jane, 32 and children Margaret, 5 b Pontypool and William 3, born same. They also have John Davies (unmarried) 20 and David Davies (unm) 18, both apprentices. Rachel George is listed as housemaid Both David and Jane were born in Carmenthshire. Possibly the little Wm died as on the next census there is a gap between Mgt and Ann In 1861 Wales Census, there is a David DAvies 45 b Carmarthen Llanegwod, wife Jane 42 b Carmarthen Llansavel? The address is Albion Terrace, parish Trevthin. town Ponty-y-pool. kids Margaret 15, Ann 9, Mary 8 Jane 4.. David is listed as cabinet maker (no men) assume that means no employees, AND also local preacher, Calvanist Methodist. On the 1841 Wales Census for David davies age 25. The only possible one is Dd DAvies labourer living with a Wm Pugh, carpenter parish of Aberystruth, district of Abergavenny 1871 David 53 cabiner maker, Jane, Annie daug. miliner, Mary dau. dressmaker, Jane schold... and George (unreadable) boarder, Calvanist Preacher still in Pontypool Now assuming I am on the right track...please if not, could somebody let me know. Is there any way to find out for certain is these are my Margaret's parent? I would like to know their marriage dates, dates of birth..the usual really. Thanks for reading this far.
