    3. I found an entry in the parish register for Llawhaden in Pembrokeshire for the marriage of a Bridget James in 1821 who could just possibly be a relation of mine. (Even if there is no connection I would like to be able to eliminate her from further consideration). The entry in the parish record says she married George Furlong by licence with the consent of the parents. 20 February 1821 George FURLONG of the parish of Stackpole, bachelor, and Bridget JAMES, spinster of this [Llawhaden] Parish WERE MARRIED BY LICENCE WITH CONSENT OF THE PARENTS. George Furlong and Bridget James signed the register. The witnesses were Henrity [???] Webb and Richard James. The first name of the first witness was difficult to read. Does the phrase "consent of parents" mean both sets of parents or would it mean just the parents of whichever partner (probably the bride) was under the age of 21? Using the National Library of Wales website I found the index entry below for the couple's marriage bond. FURLONG, George, gent., Cheriton, PEM. 1821, February 17. At Llawhaden. Bridget James. A.,D. 39/44. Would the marriage bond give the parents' names and/or any other information that could be of use in tracing their ancestry? Roy

    3. Hi, I would assume that both sets of parents gave consent because I have seen entries which specify which of the partners in the marriage, is under age and exactly who gave their consent. The marriage bonds which I have only give the name of the persons getting married, the parish where they live and where they intend to marry and the names of the people who would be liable for paying the bond if the marriage didn't take place. On the rootsweb site there are a number of West Wales Historical Reviews and Francis Green who edited the journals has copied most of the bonds. They can be difficult to find because he didn't do all in one journal and continued in subsequent volumes. I have found the bonds more by chance than anything but someone may be able to tell you how to use the volumes in order.
