Here's another mention of a Cardi with a nautical connection (this time, The Argus, Melbourne, Friday 5 October 1888): 'Jones—On the 3rd inst., at 60 Storey-street, Parkville, Lewis Jones, second son of the late Captain David Jones, Portland-street, Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire, aged 44.' I couldn't find an obvious candidate for this Captain David Jones in Reg's Morwyr Cymru list (though there is an Edward Jones in Portland St, Aber.) This bloke, Lewis Jones, must have been a proud Cymro. Further down the page there is this notice: Funeral Notices.
