Does anyone know anything about Captain Owen DAVIES, as mentioned in David's message below? It is possible that he came from Penbryn CGN, and I am therefore interested as 3 of my DAVIES lines came from there. IGI has an Enoch & Sarah, both DAVIES, married on 11 Oct 1819 in Cellan CGN, but the family I have found on IGI were all baptised in Llangranog: Owen bap.6 Aug 1813 Mary bap.23 Oct 1819 Magdalen bap.17 Jan 1822 James bap.24 Jun 1827 Griffith bap. 30 Jan 1832 John bap.11 Jun 1834 Thomas bap.17 Mar 1837 Sarah bap.17 Oct 1839 Census 1841: Rhydnanty Village, Llangranog CGN: HO107/2482: Enoch DAVIES age 50 ag.lab. & Sarah age 50 John age 7 & Thomas age 4 Anne David Rowlands wrote: > A DEATH notice from the Hobart Mercury, Monday 30 January 1899, for > anyone who may be interested: > DAVIES. — On January 11, 1899, at Whangaroa, New Zealand, Captain Owen > Davies, son of the late Enoch and Sarah Davies, Cardiganshire, Wales, > in his 86th year. An old whaling identity of this city.
